Hey!! Lexa Here... this is my shiny new journal that I am excited to fill!! I'll post a real intro next time i'm on but i'm off to go out with the Fam for some Xmas fun... should be interesting...

Ok!! The holidays are finally over and I can stop living at work!!! And move into the gym.... So today Monday the fourth is officially my first day back on top!! I have to say I'm pretty damn excited:) so a lil about me before I get on with how my day went. It name is Alexa,I'm 21 currently living in Toronto Canada for the next few months. I work as a server and bartender, I enjoy a many good nights out ( though after new years me and my best friend have decided to give up drinking for 6 months.....) I'm into snowboarding, music, art, fashion, yoga and skydiving. Anywhoo.... I'm here because Im convinced I could stand to lose about 30 Pounds. Akkkk ! I'm 5 foot 7 or 8 is and my weight has been jumping around 155 to 160 for the past while. My goal weight is 130 such I would like to reach by my 22 birthday April 19. I think it's totally doable with some hard work and true effort!

So this is how today looked...

Breakfast- 3/4c granola with 1/2c soy milk (295 cal)
Lunch- 1 v8 shot, 1 clementine, 1granola bar, 1/2 c cottage cheese, greens with balsamic (450 cal)
Snack- 5 mini gingersnAps (150 cal)
Dinner- tofu/veg/cous cous stirfry, 1 v-8 shot (450 cal)

Day total=1295 cal

Not bad for day 1

For exercise I went to a one hour yoga class.

More tomorrow!

Hey Alexa! Welcome to the forum :) I am close to your age (19) and I started out at about the same weight (156 lbs) and I'm just a bit shorter than you (5'4") so I can relate to you sort of :D Haha. So far your eating looks good! Just try to not get below 1,200 calories and for your age/height/weight you should stick around 1,500-1,600 calories/day to safely lose weight.

The first month is what is going to make you or break you - but once you get through the first month, it's smooth sailing for there :) You CAN reach your goal... and I think 30 pounds by April is very reasonable! Just work out, eat right, and drink lots of water... you can do it no problem :D Check out my journal if you have time... I've been at this weight loss think since mid-September now and I've been through a lot so far with it... maybe my journal can help you out somehow or just be some kind of support for ya :)

Hi Alexa,

I started my challenge as well today... I am no where similar to u...lol... I am 28 5'1 185lb.... but we have the same goal and we are started the same day so lets support eachother!..... we can do this!!!!.....

Thanks so much for the support guys!! love it!! and Sarah your journal is actually one of the ones that i was looking though that motivated me to do this :) Your so positive and you have had great results!! thank you!! your helping people and you dont even know it :p and your so right... I think this month will def be the toughest... I've been told that it takes 28 days to make a habit of something so maybe it will be a bit eaiser after that :p

And Khaleda.. It doesn't matter if we aren't identical.. lol... we toally have the same goal and thats awesome!!!

Things have been going good... I did kinda eff up on my diet last night.. whooops!.. everything was good until I went to my fav vegan place... Fresh... and they have THE BEST chocolate cake EVER... oh god... at least I shared it with my friend Danielle... I won't beat my self up for it though... ( well I will subconciously a little)

and I did take the day off from the gym... a bit sore...

but today!!! I have a spinning class at 6:45 wich I am pumped for. I have never tried it and I've heard that you either LOVE it or you HATE it.. so I'm hoping I love it.

This is what I have eaten so far today..

Breakfast- 3/4 c granola 1/2 c soy milk

Snack- 3 mini clementines

Lunch- Greens Salad (avacado, cranberries, walnuts, tomatos) with balsamic
and tasty tasty homeade broccoli and white bean soup.

more later... I'll give the lowdown on how spinning went. I may die..

Well I haven't had a chance to post since midweek last week but I ended up making it to the gym 4 times.

Mon- 1 hour yoga class

and then

wed, thurs, fri - I ran 3k, biked 3k and swam 1k each time I went.

I actually did quite well with my diet too!

My goal this week is to make it to the gym 5 times and post on here every day. I am writing everything down in a notebook but this feels more "Official" hahhaaa.

I did my weigh in today and was a bit diassapointed to see my weight only change 0.2 of a LB.... at least it's in the right direction I guess. Lets hope for better next Monday. Uhhgg toatally dissapointing though.... I am SUCH and impatient person :p

I'm thinking of doing a 7 day juice fast ... has anyone had any experience with this?
I've read into it a lot and there seems to be lots of health benefits if done for a short period of time of course. I'm also looking into raw food diets and so on. I'm a vegetarian so to me it's just a more extreme version of being vegan... It would be a challenge for sure, learing how to make everything!! It would be like learing how to cook allll over again!

Well I got called off work this morning so I'm going to head to the gym and have an extra LONG workout after that sucky weigh in :p ( It's totally going to bug me, maybe it will be a fire under my ass ... lol...) I think I'm going to add half a KM to my run this week.

More Later ....
Have a Fun Day Kids!!!

Hey! Great work outs... running, biking, AND swimming all in one trip to the gym? You should be very proud of yourself!

Don't get discouraged over a small weight loss... you're going to experience it at one point or another... it's better than a gain, right?

I hate to be negative here, but I wouldn't really recommend that you do a 7 day juice fast. First of all.... I don't know about you, but I LOVE to eat and I really don't think I could even survive 7 whole days just on juice alone. Secondly.... when the fasting is done, you're just going to put weight on. You might as well stick to healthy diet and exercise and watch the weight slowly (but surely!) come off and stay off, rather then race to lose weight and then watch it come back up again.

There is NO HURRY!!! I know the first few days/weeks can be really frustrating... but there is no rush, just stick with it and the weight will come off. I remember someone telling me in my diary that "we want everything yesterday" and that is so true. But it's not gonna happen like that!

Another favorite quote.... "You can have it all, just not all at once." Think about it :)

Keep it up with those work outs! You're off to a really great start. Try drinking more water if you aren't already. Water is crucial to weight loss!

Hey!! I haven't posted in years!!! everything is going good I have been religiously going to the gym even though I haven't been posting... broke mah laptop screen! Yikes!! still though not seeing much change on the scale .. but I do feel as though I look better and I def feel better .... so thats all that matters right?? still frustrating though... I've even cut out alcohol from my diet since new years!!! maybe I'm just one of those people who have a slow start.. I dont know... Gahh. I'm going to stop stressing about it.... right... NOW!... lol... Sarah you are totally right... I will eventually reach my goal ... I just won't be happeneing over night... I think I need to stop weighing myslef... my weight jumps around like CRAZY!! like there will be a 4 lb difference from day to night or from day to day... WTF! yeah... def need to stop weighing myslef... clearly making me nuts! I'm getting so much better at running though... did an hour today with not too much walking breaks. YAY! It's feels pretty damn good not to be having an asthma attak every time i start to run. the weirdest thing happened though when I was stretching after... I kept getting this weird cramp in my foot... never have had it before. my friend said it's from lack of potassium ... weird... I eat a banana like everyday... hmm .. who knows. Oh I have also decided to go vegan... and eliminate all animal products from my diet. i didn't really eat any to begin with... except cottage cheese and yogurt. but I had so yogurt for the first time this week and it was delish. I think I will live :) anywho... enough rambles... hopefully my screen will be fixed soontime and I will be back in online action !
