Pushup and pull ups weighted?

I was thinking of getting a 20lb weighted vest, and just going about my routine? What percentage per say would that affect muscle tearing/growth as opposed to just doing the exercises unweighted?

I obviously would probably be unlikely to finish my current routine, and would probably have to alter it/lower the reps, but how would it affect growth? Is it a waste of money and better to just save the $60 and spend it on free weights?

I'm happy with my regimen now, but would like to challenge myself a little more.
 
You should have enough resistance so that you can only complete 6-12 reps. Then you can then vary your workout within those parameters i.e. 4x8, 3x10, 5x6 etc. The more weight you have the better.
 
i love weighted pull ups. i went to a hardware store and picked up a couple feet of chain, this foam insulation stuff, and some heavy dudey mountain climber looking clip things. it works perfect.
