pure fruit and veggie diet

would it be a bad/good idea to ask my parents to buy a wide variety so i could eat a diet of mostly fruits and veggies. im sayin a plate full of carrots, celery, and maybe some watermelon...im not sayin that i would give up other foods completely. Right now i have a protein shake and protein bar for breakfast, do you think this is a good breakfast? it adds up to 500 calories if it matters. so majority fruits and veggies diet, good or bad?

that is alot of fiber, don't cut out the meat unless you want to be a vegitarian. Need that protein and unsaturated fat.

But you still have to look at it, from a vegatarian standpoint it wouldn't be bad, eat beans too. just take some bean-o, your classmate will thank ya lol!!!

The protein bar and shake would be best for post workout or the evening meal. You generally need a carb heavy breakfast to replace your energy stores from your fast when your asleep.

What your describing there is close to a raw diet. Google for it for more information.

A protein bar is not an ideal for pwo nutrion. Most bars are junk and made from mostly animal fat and sugar. I would advise to consume a whey/simple carb shake immediatly following your weight training to replenish muscle glycogen and then a whole food pro/carb meal about an hour or so after.

Im not sure I think it's that great. While I think eating a lot of veggies is a great idea... fruit should be eaten in moderation (yes, it's good for you, but in moderation).

I would rather you eat some other carbs and definitely some protein. If you are a vegetarian then you need to find other protein sources (beans, tofu, eggs, tuna, etc.)

And I do not think a protein drink and protein bar is a good breakfast at all. I think it's lots of artifical foods and sugar. Why not eat something real and alive (like the fruits and veggies you want to eat?)

Is your goal to go on a raw diet? If so, great! But there is MUCH more to eating a raw diet than just eating cauliflower, broccoli and watermelon.

I would look into purchasing a vegan or raw cookbook for additional food items you can eat.

i did a diet like this for 6 weeks... mainly all i ate was apples, bananas, and oranges and sometimes fat free yogurt. it worked, i lost all the weight i wanted to, but i eventually gained it all back.

Thanks for posting that CryAngel4527.

It just goes to show you that almost anything will work for a period of time. However, if it is unbalanced, unhealthy, or otherwise harmful... it will not last.

So why put your body through the pain of only eating fruit and veggies when as soon as your eat "normal" again you will gain all the weight back (plus some because your metabolism is destroyed)? You will most likely deal with hunger pangs and other uncomfortable issues. I'd rather just learn to eat well and feed my body :)

i also did this for about 3 months. lost about 30lbs BUT looked horrible. I was "skinny-fat". Weighed less and wore smaller size but was flabby!! Please don't do this. I gained all of the weight back after i started eating normal again. You definately need protein. I am vegetarian but i eat 2% string cheese, eggwhites, whey protein for my protein.
