Punch-/Kickbag Beginner Question

Hello everyone,

First of all - I'm new here on the site, so I have no idea if I post this thread where it's supposed to be, but anyway:

I've been thinking about buying a punch/kickbag (or whatever they're called) lately, but I can't seem to find any information about how much this should weight and stuff like that.

I'm a beginner, I'm 6feet tall (180cm) and I work out, so it's not like I have no muscles at all :]

My question is what kind of punch/kickbag I should go for?
Height, weight etc.

And if anyone knows any site who sells stuff like it, or contain free guides - Please post it as well.

I hope my message made sense...

Thanks,

You can get something called a "Wavemaster" pretty cheap (get it used through classifieds like craigslist or freecycle or whatever for $50 or way less). It's a stand-alone "bag" mounted on a plastic base. Height is adjustable. Weight is, too (of the base), depending on what you fill it with. And you don't need anywhere to hang it from! I had one, and they can take some pretty vicious beatings for the cheap little things they are.

It'll meet your needs just fine until your flaming fists and feet of fury are so powerful they fracture the plastic base, causing it to collapse into a pile of shards. :D

Hi,
I did kickboxing for a few years when I was younger. The stand alone bag is much better IMO. From what I recall they cost about 200 euro.

They're great for the end of a workout doing 1 min on the bag with 1 min break. Gets every last ounce of effort out of you. 10 mins on the bag and you'll be wrecked. Get yourself some hand wraps and either mits or gloves too.

Thanks for the reply.

Anyone else who got anything to say :] ?
