pulled muscle and keeps hurting

I pulled a muscle pretty bad last year, let it heal, and a few months later pulled it again doing some deads. I have been ridiculous when it comes to my form making sure everything is straight, but my muscle now tends to get sore pretty quick.

I just wanted to to know if anybody else has had some similar feelings or experience. I don't want to have to stop my deads since they are so powerful, but I also don't want to keep hurting my lower... real lower back.

Have you tried doing any supplementary exercises to help with that? Good mornings, stiff leg dead lifts, etc? It's just an idea. The lower back is a bad area to hurt...it takes a LONG time to heal. I'd lay off the heavy weights for a while again, and focus on getting a good stretch with a slow, controlled movement.
