Pull ups as breast-training

hi guys,
i was betting with a classmate of mine if pull ups are a way to get breast muscles.
we were talking about pull ups like this:

i thought that you only train your breasts if you push something away from you, and if you pull it to you its training for my back.
(isnt there some rule like this?)
and these kind of push ups are for the latissimus and the biceps.
would be nice if some people answer, who know what they are talking about.

thx :)

Pull ups aren't the best exercise for the pecs, since (when done properly) they are a back and bicep dominant movement. But yes, they do build the pecs to some degree.

Pec major, which is the main visible muscle of the chest, is used in the following movements:

* Horizontal flexion (whole muscle)
* Flexion (upper fibers of the muscle)
* Extension (lower fibers of the muscle)
* Adduction (lower fibers of the muscle)

The bench press is mostly horizontal flexion, with some flexion if you're either on an incline or have the elbows tucked in. The pull up and chin up both involve shoulder extension and adduction, so the chest is used in those movements, too.

Hey Coold0wn,
You are right that pullups work your lats and biceps.
For chest, you want to do bench press or PUSHUPS. Pushups are really good.
Of course you want your muscles to be balanced, so you can do both pullups and pushups.
