PT for a petella injury

I've been having knee pain in my patella tendon. It hurts most when i do squats and go low. I've been resting it for a few days and the pain has gone away, but it returns when i bend the knee alot. The knee brace helps, but can anyone recommend some exercises to build strength in that area?

Thanks

how long has this been going on? Have you tried taking some time off quad exercises and just do light movements (to get the blood moving) for an extended period of time? You could have an inflammation in your patella tendon. If it persists I'd go see a doc about it.

it has been just slight pain for a few weeks, but it hurt a lot more the past three days. Today, it feels great, but i havent put any real stress on it since legs on monday. I'm going to give it a full week off, then slowly do some leg extensions.

I had something like this for a while and the only thing that finally cured it for good was getting a myofascial release massage. The pain was caused by shortened/tight muscles in my quads. Wearing a brace might help in the short term but each time you train without it you risk having the same problem. In fact it's more likely because the brace will become a crutch (like wearing a weight lifting belt weakens the back).

I never though of wearing the brace when i was working out, I just wore it the day theat it really hurt. I dont know what a myofascial release massage is. Can you recommend any stretches, or something else i could do, that would be benificial to help this?

You could try doing a quad stretch to see if that helps but I don't think it will have much effect. If you can't find someone who does myofascial release massage you can do a less effective but still useful version of it yourself with a foam roller. They're about £30 which is less than $50 and mine is one of the best things I ever bought.
