P's diary: ramblings of a carb junkie!

Oh, yeah. Chips are dangerous. Do they have Lay's Light potato chips there? They are so good, and only 75 calories for 20 chips! And no fat! They are cooked in Olestra, so some people have a little problem with them, but I have had no problems. I love 'em!

I think that it is great that you are making room for the occassional snack. I think that is important. It's all about the "balance".

I definately agree that one bad day shouldn't effect your ability to move on and to keep going. That's a great mind set to have.

Keep up the good work and GO BELLY BUSTERS !

Counting calories

Gosh, I didn't realise its been nearly 3 days since I last posted. I've decided to start counting calories with a 1500cal per day target. A question to all those that count calories, how do you break up the daily calorie allowance? Do you aim to have an even spread of calories per meal, or allot a larger proportion to the three main meals with only a small amount at morning/afternoon tea?

I'm going to experiment over the next few weeks on having 6 meals per day of approx equal calories.

Exercise
Yesterday 3.5kms treadmill;10.5km bike
Today - didn't do cardio today. Silly me stubbed my little toe last night. I gave it quite a big kick, I really thought I had broken the bone! Today I have the start of a massive bruise. Needless to say walking was not on my agenda! The toe is not quite as sore at the moment so I should be able to do all my cardio workout on the bike tomorrow and a weight session. Got to bust that belly:D

My aim for tomorrow (oops its after 12midnight!) today is to cycle 20km.

Lets get these bellies busted!

I count calories.

Breakfast and supper are normally my biggest meals calorie wise. It's funny because right after those meals is when I plan to do my walking...just worked out that way. A.M. snack is my smallest in terms of calories and the rest are inbetween. I like to count my calories because it helps me know exactly what I'm eating and it keeps me from snacking.

Great job on the exercise and have a great day today. :)

My calories usually seem to be bigger at my evening meal, and smaller through the day. Some days I plan that way because we are going out, but many days it just works out that way.

One hint - if you find you usually have big calories left to spend at your evening meal, maybe try to eat a little more during the day so that you aren't so hungry at the end. That way you can avoid large portion sizes that would cause your stomach to expand too much. :)

AussieChick - you do such a good job of setting goals and writing everything out. You're doing great!
Go Belly Busters!!!!

Doing good and I love your diary I am bad about carbs also I am a carb addict!!!!

Converting ticker

OK I've given up trying to get '.5' to show up on my ticker. At least if I convert it to lbs it will be more accurate. Last weigh in I was 97.5kgs but i haven't been able to change the ticker so its been showing 97kg

Last weigh in: 215 (7/7/06)
This weigh in: 213 (14/7/06)
Loss: 2lbs

So it looks like I've busted some belly:D (not a lot but some!)

Go!go!BB's

Exercise
I have a severely bruised foot so I can't walk at the moment, I can do bike workout once I found a comfortable position for my foot. Todays workout was 15.5km bike; weight session.

Ramblings
I derailed a bit in the evening, though I did actually show control over the food by not snorting every single bit of chocolate and fries. I also stopped at my cut off time which is a huge improvement on my past actions.

I had a late breakfast, therefore didn't feel like morning tea. I knew I would be going out for lunch so I didn't mind. I really should have had a substantial afternoon tea and included some fruit. That will be my goal for tomorrow eat more fruit.

The story of the bruised foot is a lesson in irony! Wednesday night I was supposed to go out to Japanese restaurant with the mothers from our playgroup. Decided it wasn't a good idea to be eating out while I am still getting a handle on my overeating/portion control issue. I thought I would do some tidying and washing instead. I was stepping over a rather full laundry basket in the middle of the laundry when I caught my little toe in the side of the basket, tripped and twisted my foot. If only I had gone to the restaurant!

Walking is painful, but at least I can still get cardio workout done on bike, I just have to keep my foot in the one position.

Anyway I must go, the clocks ticked past midnight again! Does anybody else find the time just flies once you start catching with diaries etc

I'm sorry about your foot, but very happy that you were able to suck it up and carry on with a different workout! That kind of determination will get you to your goals for sure!

Hey, we'll call you our team's Kerri Strug. :p

Kerri Who?

Twinmom - had to 'google' the name Kerri Strug to find out if you were insulting or complimenting me:D I'll take it as a compliment thankyou:)

Exercise
None. It was a cold rainy day here today. I couldn't get to the gym. Its only open 8-11am and then 3 - 6pm on a Saturday with childminding only in the morning.

Ramblings
As I said it was a cold wet day today, I still can't walk because of my sore foot and I couldn't get to the gym to cycle because I had to take children to birthday parties today and DH had to work.

The birthday parties were a test. Lots of chips and dips, and a sausage sizzle mmmm....I love the smell of bbq'd meat in the morning:D Anyway, I declined the sausage sanger, chips, dips and even..sniff...sniff... the birthday cake! I did however have a coffee, just realised I didn't put that in my diary!

Dinner was fun, just me and the kids as DH at work. We made healthy pizza's, the kids really love helping mummy 'cook'. My 4 year old son grated the cheese (lo fat), while my 6 year old daughter drained the pineapple. They both made their own pizza's and ate most of it! Lebanese bread is a great alternative to the doughy pizza bases.

For dessert I had a single ice block. Milk based, choc flavoured and only 28cals!Yum!Yum! When I was grocery shopping during the week discovered these ice cream treats by reading all the nutrition panels of the food I put in the trolley ( and I do mean ALL the food). It added at lease another 30 minutes to the shopping expedition. Needless to say I did it childless:)

I've added a mini goal ticker to my signature.I'm going to focus on quickly achievable goals....ahhhh...whats that song playing in the background..."playing those mindgames together....la...la.." Yes, its to stop me dwelling on the final goal weight which can get me a bit down, usually when I'm hormonal:) So my first mini goal is to break the 210 barrier, then the biggy to get into the magical world of ones:)

Hope everyone has a good weekend or whats left of it (Saturday night here).

P.

hey AussieChick, just checking up on you. Looks like you had a good day. :) Dinner sounds delicious. I love Lebanese flat bread too. Not just for homemade pizza either but overall. It's lovely.

And your mini-goal is very reasonable. Good luck! :)

Ramblings
Had a very quiet day today, cold and wet Sunday! DH took kids out for walk and play in between rain periods while I rested my foot. My dad came over for the morning, I made a futile attempt at cleaning the house as I said a very quiet day. Spent the afternoon playing board games and doing jigsaw puzzles with the children, a great way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon. OK I'll admit it......the only thing better would be to have hot chocolate and marshmallows with crumpets oozing butter and drizzled with honey while playing! Oh! did I type that quick wheres that delete button.....:D

PS: this post typed Monday (too tired last night)

Hey AC,

I'm sorry to hear about your toe being broken. That's gotta hurt!

You did a good job this weekend! Way to go!:)

Do you normally count calories or is this new??? How do you like it???

Counting calories

Miss Kallie - I've only been counting calories for about 5 days. I spent a week just journalling my food intake and then decided to set a 1500 calorie limit per day. I don't know why I've never tried to count calories before, maybe all the other times I've tried to lose weight I never really truly wanted to acknowledge how much I ate or overate more to the point!

How do you like counting calories? I find it extremely liberating! I like the idea that if I slip up and have an extra helping of something or a biscuit here or there I can just incorporate it into the daily allowance, thus bypassing that neverending cycle of diet - stray from 'diet' - feel depressed - give up - eat more for comfort.

Wow! how time flies, Sunday was the last time I posted my daily intake and its now Thursday night. My weigh in day is tomorrow, I would really like to see a 2lb loss. I've been keeping track of my calories. Monday and Tuesday I got up to approx 1900 ea day! My mistake was sitting down at the end of the day and then adding up the calories! What a BIG mistake that was!:( I ate far too much brown rice with dinner, on both nights my dinner was over 600 cals. I've learnt the error of my ways, and plan the evening meal to be about 400cals.

On the positive side, I've been doing longer cardio sessions (Mon cycled 19kms, Wed cycled 22km, today cycled 20kms, plus I've done 2 weight sessions at the gym.

I must say the benefits of the cycling is a better nights sleep! Speaking of which its11.15pm, I'm tired, so I'll sign off.

Hey AC,

I love counting calories. It doesn't seem like a chore to me at all. I like to see how much things "cost" in terms of calories and how I can fit regular foods/drinks into my diet that I don't have everyday, like a shot of tequilla or a beer every now and then.

I know I won't get tired of counting calories because that is what keeps me on track. Since I started counting calories I am now 14 days snack free in the evening and I've only had one binge day. So for me it really helps.

Considering that you hurt your foot, you are doing soooooo good. You haven't made any excuses to avoid cardio and you push on even though you could say my foot is hurt, Yah know. Great job. Good luck with the weigh in.

I weighed in this morning - 211lbs! A loss of 2lbs! Even with my slip ups with the calorie counting this week. I must go and upday my ticker:) Will post later about today's intake.
