Protein shake before or after WO?

This is just to clear up all the talk about the benefits of drinking a protein shake before or after a workout. First of all, know this. I am not just some 15 year old kid rambling about something that I have no clue about, I am an experienced lifter, a highly educated nutritional advisor, and a fellow man in the fitness world.

Studies have shown that drinking a protein shake BEFORE lifting (about 20 min) will produce greater gains in strength and muscle development. Don't believe me? Look it up. They were conducted at the University of Texas (Medical Branch). They took 8 guys of similar strength, put them through the same routines each day. 4 took a shake before, 4 after. The ones that took one before had slightly greater gains. (about 6%). The researchers attributed this to the fact that the protein in their body before the workout was distributed faster by a higher heart rate due to lifting. The faster distribution of the protein lead to more of it being used, and more quickly. Thus, producing greater gains. thank you for reading

Hi Fitwes,
i need some help
usually when i go into the gym my energy levels are high and i start off with
big exercises like deadlifts and squats. problem is after doing only a couple of those exercises i can't keep going. my question is how to maintain my energy levels during the workout (without gatorade or powerade or any other artificial booster)

if you don't want to drink any glucose or anything like that during your workout I don't think there's a lot you can do besides making sure you have enough food in your system before you work out, that you're properly rested, hydrated, etc.

i usually eat protein before and after a workout.

is it not necessary to do both?

cause sometimes after my workout i still feel full and dont really want to eat but i feel like i have to.

my goal is to bulk up right now but i also have like 40 lbs excess body fat on me so i do want to shed the fat.

so would just eating before be cool?
