protein bar scandal?

i have heard some $#it talk about protein bars and how more than half of them LIE about the suppliment facts of their bar such as amount of fat, sat fat and other facts. Does anyone know any "trustworthy" protein bars out there that can assure me i am getting what i think i bought?

Most suppliments you'll see online are scams. Go to a local store, like GNC, and ask them. They know what they're talking about, they work around that stuff all day long...

Haha, was trying to help you out, not be a smart a$%. Protein bars are fine once in a while, but if you are using them everyday as part of your normal nutritional program, that is a no go. Convenience is not always best.

oh, i get it. do u have any suggestions on anything else that is convenient like a protein bar? Ex: too bad i cant bring a chicken sandwhich with me : (

Well what is your schedule like? What do you do? I am a financial advisor during the day, a personal trainer in the evenings and weekends, I am obtaining a maters degree right now, I own a home, have a fiance, and a very active social life.

Still, I eat 6-7 meals a day. Only 2 of them are in liquid form....and the only reason I do this is because it is optimal for muscular hypertrophy before and after weight training. I plan my entire week out when it comes to eating. I eat atleast 42 meals each and every week, usually more. I know what each of them are going to be in advance.

If you are for real about changing your body, you can always find a way to eat right.

So what is your schedule like and maybe people can throw you some suggestions about what to eat who have similar schedules as you. I will do my best.

LOL
i stay home like all day. im only 15. I wish i had a job. I basically cant eat 6-8 meals a day...i have to eat around 10-14 snack/meals. is that okay???Its different when i go to school kuz il leave at 7am and come home at 3pm.

Then listen to them hype their overpriced stuff and buy into it, hook, line and sinker.

Haha, ok did not realize you were so young. Congrats on getting involved with fitness at such a young age. It is a great hobby to come by! However, you obviously are not going to be able to eat how many prescibe in here while in grade school. I believe you should have multiple small meals per day in school, but unfortunately, the government thinks education is the only important thing. Who cares about health, as long as they are smart that is all they need. LOL, touchy subject, but I recommend simply eating as good as can be. Eat a hearty breakfast before school, make healthy decisions while at school, and eat 2-4 meals once home from school.

You don't have too much to worry about at your age. Just make healthy choices and stay active. Do you play sports?

I joined the swim team for 10th grade then im going for wrestling(very tough i hear). I am definently not an ectomorph; i think i am a cross between a mesomorph and an endomorph. Here are my stats: 15 years old; 130 lbs; 5'6"; BMI 20. I can put on weight fairly quickly. I dont really play sports on my own with kids in the neighborhood but i ride my bike at least twice a week :/

I try to eat constantly; its almost 10pm and i am ganna have some whole grain bread with a scoop of peanut butter and a scoop of cottage cheese(wierd i know). I will have some cereal with milk before bed. I always wake up at around 2pm naturally and have some casein protein drink. Is this overdoing it on the 6-8 meals a day thing???

In a lot of the protein bars, the first ingredient is HFCS. In others its the second.

Here's some bar recipes:

I attempted to make some protein bars that did not require baking, you just stick them in the fridge.
4-5 scoops chocolate protein powder
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup uncooked quick oats, plus more for rolling
2 tablespoons honey
1/4-1/2 cup water; mix to a doughy consistency
That's the recipe. It made the runniest protein bars I'd ever seen in my life. I think I have a whole bunch of chocolate spread for my toast now. It won't keep it's form. It's kind of like trying to shape mud... Just doesn't work. If anyone has protein bar recipes that actually keep their form and preferably do not require being chilled as I carry them with me throughout the day, I will be very grateful. Thanks.
