Proper bench form

I was up to repping 155 3x8 on bench, but I never brought it all the way down to my chest, I took a month off and went about 15 lb on benching. I was wondering if it is considered OK form for taller people not to go down to their chest? I am 6'4 and with any ok amount of weight on the bar it just doesn't feel great on my shoulders to take it down all the way, theres kind of like a breaking point a few inches above my chest where it feels different. Lately I have been trying to take it all the way down to my chest with like 3x8 of 135, should I keep at this or let the weight hover a few inches above my chest when i bring it down? Thanks for any help.

Yes, you're fine because of your long limbs not to touch your chest. In fact, it would prob. serve your shoulders better not to.

work on building your pecs up large enough so the bar will eventually touch them at the bottom of your rep :)

My only other thought is make sure you're going wide enough on your grip.
