Project C

Jenn - Hmm. You're supposed to use English cucumbers for the sushi. But I've tried it with regular cucumber and didn't really notice a BIG difference. The only other thing which I can think of that is changing the taste is the amount of rice vinegar you are using. Check to make sure you have enough rice vinegar (but not too much). Too much would make it too sweet and not enough would result in bland, unflavourful rice. See if that helps. :) As for gyozas, I think they're alright. I like them... Cept they're pan-fried or DEEP-FRIED!! So I try to stay away from them.

Smallerbyday - I did have a good day. And today was even better. :) I didn't end up watching the movie. Oh well... I ended up watching Doctor Who. That's okay though. I love Doctor Who. :D

Scarlett - Heh. Sure... I'll come by... Say... Next Saturday? ;)

Week 1 Challenge: Breakfast is the MOST important meal of the day (Cumulative)

Day Five:
Today was great. I woke up and tried to call to reschedule my appointment with my endocrinologist. Unfortunately, she's outta town on a "conference." Personally, I think this is just a nicer way of saying she's on a long vacation during the long weekend. ;) Oh well. After much consideration, I decide to get my blood test over with anyways. So I get dressed and decide to walk to the medical building. Usually, I take the bus but I thought it was a nice day so I decided to take a walk. It's about 1.5 km from my house. There were points when I was a lil tired cause it was kinda hot and I was carrying something REALLY heavy (ie: 10-20 pounds weight) on my shoulder. But instead of stopping or giving up, I gave myself a mini goal for each distance. Like once I reached one traffic light my next mini goal was to reach the second one and so forth. At first I really didn't wanna walk but after awhile, it wasn't so bad. In fact, once I got my blood tests done, I came outta the building and decided to walk back home too employing the same method as before.

As for food today, for breakfast I had cereal with milk and a piece of light Laughing Cow cheese. God, those things are a heaven sent! Only 25 calories per piece. And so soft and spreadable. Perfect on bread on just to eat alone. Lunch was a soyburger on two pieces of toasts and a quarter cucumber as my veggie portion. Dinner, I made steamed rice with spicy szechaun eggplant.

I changed the recipe somewhat though. And fryed up some lean ground beef before cooking the eggplant. It's not bad. Really comparable to the stuff I have at restaurants but less fatty. So all in all, today I probably had about 1200 calories or so.

The rest of the day, I spent planning a BIG meal tomorrow which I will hardly touch. I dunno... Maybe it's the chef in me... But if I can't eat it... I WANT to cook it more. Like if I can't get the pleasure of eating it myself, I want to see OTHER people enjoy it. So tomorrow, I'm making guacamole (for Tostitos lime chips), bacon & cheese stuffed mushrooms and deviled eggs as snacks for my brother and a friend of ours. Then I'm making lasange, garlic bread with real garlic butter and salad for dinner. (MAYBE French onion soup. This was a LATE request AFTER all the grocery shopping was done. And it seems... TOO much for so few people... So I dunno. I might make it. I may not at this point.) Dessert is deep-fried nutella ravioli and creme brulee. Trust me, I am barely gonna be eating tomorrow. Oh. And I'm making peanut butter cookies for our friend cause she loves them. I'd prefer to BBQ on Canada Day but alas... No grill. So cooking is what I'll do. :D

EDIT: Oh! I forgot to mention... I drank 104.5 oz of water today! WOOT! And... I sneaked a peak and hopped on a scale. If it IS right and it's not just normal fluctuations, then I have indeed PASSED my plateau. I don't really wanna say that though. Just in case. And then JINX myself. But I'll weigh myself on Monday again. And we'll see... I also have to think of a new challenge to begin with on Monday. Hmmm. *thinks*

lol... yeah. it's a bit much. And the whole thing is really for 3-4 people. LOL. My brother and our friend can REALLY chow down. I even got French Onion Soup as a requested dish now too. Eeep. There's gonna be SOO many leftovers. Eeep. ANd no worries. I won't snack or munch. When I cook, I'm very professional. I don't munch or chew. Or taste test... I got so many volunteer guinea pigs for that! ;)

Hey C fingers crossed that you have passed the dreaded plateau, it's annoying being stuck on one isn't it.:(

Wishing you a fab weekend and I hope the sun is shining where ever you are!:D

I'll keep my fingers crossed for your official weigh in. Thanks for the recipe. I wouldn't mind having the recipe for the Nutella Ravioli too! I always wondered what people used Nutella for. Now I know. You are doing great!

OMG - I might seriously need a recipe for this!! Do share, or PM me with it!

:)

Sounds like all is going great! Keep it up C!!

Week 1 Challenge: Breakfast is the MOST important meal of the day (Cumulative)

Day Six:
I'm exhausted. I'm stuffed. I'm hot. All in all, it was a good Canada Day. Woot! Happy Birthday Canada. ^__^ Didn't see any fireworks this year. *pouts* But least my hand wasn't the size of a basketball like last year thanks to some mosquitos. heh.

Well, as you recall, the menu for today was HUGE. But after making the gucamole, the peanut butter cookies, deviled eggs & stuffed mushroom caps, everyone was full. So I only made lasange and we left out the salad and the garlic bread... cause well, my brother and our friend are gluttons and would rather have sugar than veggies. heh. As I said, I didn't eat THAT much. I actually restrained alot today. I have no idea of my fat or calorie count but I'd wager it's somewhere around 2000 calories today. I only had ONE mushroom cap. Some guacamole with chips. One slice of lasange. One peanut butter cookie. Four of the nutella raviolis. And that's it. I didn't even pop open a bottle of Smirnoff Twist. So although I wasn't GREAT... I didn't go overboard. So I'm glad about that. I missed breakfast today cause I woke up super late but I did make time for some exercise... kinda walked in one spot. At least I got in my 3 liters of water and am chugging another 1.5 liters now.

Welp, that's it for now. I'm exhuasted. I'll check the journals tomorrow after I come back from my parents' bakery. My parents are dragging me to the store to make 486 walnut cookies tomorrow. Blah. So many!! Blah.

Oh C!! I don't know how you did it, but GOOD for you!!

The recipe looks amazing, and I'll have to try it for a special occasion!

Have a good day tomorrow!

Don't worry! You can resist the temptation of those cookies tomorrow because you did so well today! :D By the way, there was something posted in someone's diary several months ago where she said that her mom used to only eat the broken cookies cause she said the broken ones didn't have any calories! Lol! ;)

Dessert is deep-fried nutella ravioli

I saw the show where Giada made this (or as we like to call her at my house...Little Big Head) and was wondering if it was any good in real life. Now I know.

Sounds like you had a fun weekend cooking for everyone...because let's face it folks...cooking really is fun. It's the eating part that gets us in trouble

And C, we're definitely on for next Saturday!! LOL!!!

M2M - It was actually easier than one would think. I just kept thinking about passing my plateau and not wanting to be back at 274 again! ;)

Hyppo Hippo - LOL! I ate the broken one too. Not because I didn't think they had no calories though. But cause I was the chef. So I didn't think it'd have been right of me to take the perfectly good one and serve the broken one. No worries though. I gave away my peanut butter cookie to our friend. She has them now. So I can't even be tempted even if I wanted to. :)

valapalooza - Thanks! I do too! *crosses fingers* We'll find out together when I weigh myself tomorrow. EEEP!

Scarlett - Okay! I'll bring my rice maker on Saturday. ;) And well... It's very sweet cause of the nutella. And once u deep fry it, the nutella is gooey and soft which is good. I'd save it for a VERY special occaision but it is yummy.

Week 1 Challenge: Breakfast is the MOST important meal of the day (Cumulative)

Day Seven:
Welp, today is the last day for this week. Don't worry though. This challenge is cumulative so that means I have to keep eating breakfast til August 31st. I'm STILL not sure what the new week's challenge will be... Hmmm.

I missed breakfast again cause I woke up uber late despite going to bed early yesterday. I was just so tired. I have heat stroke or something. It's just so bloody hot. I ended the day around 1660 calories which includes spicy szechaun eggplant with steamed rice, 1.5 slices of lasagna, a small ice cream cone with heavenly hash ice cream and 1 bottle of strawberry daquiri bacardi breezer and about 2.6 liters of water. woot. A lil higher than I'd like with alot more sugar than I'd have liked... But ah well, I blame my bad behaviour (ice cream and the cooler) on my boyfriend. ^__^;

Tomorrow is the big weigh-in day. So we'll see if what I sneak peaked was a fluke or it was actually true. eep. Let's cross our fingers ladies.

End of the Week Reflection:
Okay okay, so I realized that what everyone says about eating breakfast is true. It really does jumpstart your day and get your metabolism going. I have to say though, it's pretty damn hard to have breakfast. Time flies in the morning. What's more... It's hard to find a LIL meat in the morning without frying up an egg, sausage or bacon. I mean, the more healthy things... Well, it's almost impossible. I've relied on boiled eggs and slices of tureky breast. But those can be high in sodium. Hmm. I need to think of better breakfasts. I'm usually not a morning breakfast person at all. I'm more of a tea-only girl (which I've stopped drinking caffeine mostly). Okay, I'm slagged. I gotta crash. The heat and the cooler is going to my head. I better lie down. I know I said I'd visit the journals today but maybe tomorrow okay ladies? Sorry. Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend.

Breakfast can be difficult, I'm not much of a morning person, but it is possible. Either make something the night before that you can grab on the run, or get some pre-packaged (but healthy - not processed crap & sugar) breakfast for the late days. You can do it!

Let's see, some ideas for new challenges... how about cutting out processed sugar as much as possible? Sodas, candy, alcohol... leave just the natural sugars like in fruit! Or, getting in all your water (though it sounds like you have that covered). Making sure you get in enough cardio exercise? Start doing situps?

Even if you don't use one of those, I got your brain thinking of something you can use :)
