Progress and Setbacks - the Road Ahead

9 Day streak of 10,000+ steps continues, today I have a chance to get into double digits which isn't a lot but it's a great start.

Monday night I started to jog for a couple minutes while on the treadmill and felt great while doing so. I have been adjusting to the orthotics I got over the Christmas break so hoping they'll help correct my running form and prevent injuries as I get back into running longer distances. For now the focus will be on walking and staying on track with the diet.
Weight dropped another half pound yesterday which is the usual. Generally I lose weight from Monday to Thursday and then go back up from Friday-Sunday so tracking it daily may force me to reconsider food options on the weekend.

Lot of changes since August to be grateful for:
Down over 25 lbs
Transitioned from a horrible diet to plant based diet and eating 10x as many vegetables as I had before
Fit into a bunch of older clothes I had shoved to the back of the closet
Energy levels are significantly better
Dropped coffee and all caffeine
Adjusted to orthotics to (hopefully) prevent running injuries (had had knee and hip issues in the past)
Have cut down on alcohol consumption

Small changes have a way of adding up and snowballing into a significant shift.

Goals for end of March:
Weight 230lbs
Body Fat%: down to 29%
Complete another 13 mile run/walk

Food: Good, Steps: 10,000+ Weight: 243.5

Nothing but good things, that´s awesome! Some of those small changes are actually quite big, you can definitely be proud of yourself.

Lots of small changes certainly resulted in big accomplishments! I think it's great that you summarized everything in one spot, sometimes it's hard for people to step back and see the big picture. I'm very much looking forward to following your progress towards that long run/walk! Oh, and weekends... Gosh, if someone has a secret for eating well on the weekends, please let us know.

Thanks LaMa, Cate and Oaks,

As part of this reset I've been trying to focus on the positive changes that have been made since the beginning and be grateful for them. Not always an easy task but one that really seems to help with the motivation so definitely a habit worth practicing.

Looking forward to making more positive changes and reinforcing the ones I've currently made in the coming weeks. Another pound dropped and ready to head into the weekend in search of a better routine. 10 days and counting of 10,000 step so across the 100,000 mark now.

I do think focussing on the positives is the key to a better life in general. It is so easy to get bogged down by the negatives in our lives.
100,000steps in 10 days?
Well done! :cheers2: Cheers, Cate

Thanks Cate and Lama,

Completely agree about focusing on the positive. Really improves your outlook and is helping heaps with the motivation.

About to head into the weekend having made great progress this week so my mantra for the next two days will be "Stay on track, repeat x 1000"
Another half pound has fallen off so almost back to pre-Christmas weight now.

Food: Good, Steps: 10,000+ Weight: 241.5

PS You should get yourself an avatar. That sounds demanding, but I just think the more pictures on here the better!

Thanks Oaks and Lama,
Saturday went fairly well. Had friends over for dinner which resulted in a much larger meal than usual, tried to limit the snacking to healthier options
but at the end of the day a calorie is still a calorie which resulted in a tick upwards but still shaping up to be a very good week overall.

Have my treadmill set up to face the TV and have been experimenting with attempting to play Call of Duty while walking at a slow pace. It's not improving my game performance and trying to play a first person shooter where you're walking through turning hallways messes with your sense of balance when trying to walk a straight line on the treadmill. On a positive note, 40 minutes really flies by when you're not looking at the time every 2 minutes.

Food: Good, Steps: 10,000+ Weight: 240.9

Good for you K&D looking for ways to use the treadmill that might be more fun. Today I am getting on my exercise bike! I'll try to start off slowly as it has been a while :blush5:

Good luck with the biking Cate, hope the smoke/asthma combo keeps away.

Back up again this morning as the dreaded weekend strikes again. I didn't think the eating was too bad yesterday but yesterday's food was higher on the sodium side so I'll see if it drops back again tomorrow. No complaints on the week as a whole as the weight is down just over 4 lbs and body fat % has dropped but still need to solve weekends.

Food: Fair, Steps: 10,000+ Weight: 242.7 BF: 31.3%

Yay for 4 lbs lost; that´s pretty amazing for a week! Let me know if you find a foolproof solution for weekends...

:blush5: hmmm biking.....I still have asthma but the smoke has cleared a lot.I did do some exercise, though- housework & wood gathering& I plan on playing golf tomorrow.Well done on 4lbs lost K&D!

Yeah LaMa, still a ways to go before I find anything foolproof enough that it will work against myself. Guess I'm not a normal strength fool. Happy with the 4 lbs in the right direction and will see if next weekend goes any differently.
Glad to hear the smoke has cleared and agree that housework and wood gathering are better than exercise as they both serve a real purpose. Firewood chores last the whole year around here between the cutting/splitting/piling/moving/and burning.

Great day yesterday on the exercise and food front for day 15 of the 10,000+ step streak.

Food: Good, Steps: 10,000+ Weight: 241.0

Thanks Cate,
Another good day and the early week weight loss trend continues. Back under 240 again for the first time in quite some time and think it's a more accurate reading as I moved the scale out onto a hardwood floor that is more level.

Food: Good, Steps: 11,000+ Weight: 239.6
