problemo

this isnt the most serious of problems, but i was wondering if anyone had any tips...u see, my parents will cook a dinner that i love, in this case, mashed potatoes and sausage...i am able to resist it since i was actually playing basketball while they were eating it...but the next day i look in the fridge and see the leftovers, and cant resist taking some...i cant exactly move the leftovers out of the fridge so what can i do?

i wanna get one...but the only one my parents want is this little yorkshire terrier and its like 2 grand...ill settle for a little 100 dollar dog...

Personally, I still eat everything, except dessert and junk, just in smaller portions.(homecooked meals, that is) Simple things like that helped me lose 15lbs so far. After a while it becomes a habit, so you don't really deprive yourself of anything. I'm not sure if I'll ever get to the point where I'll be counting all the carbs and fats and all that good stuff, but you never know...maybe when I'm in a real desperate need :p

If you absolutely cannot resist, then it is all about portion control!! Up until recently (since I have got more serious about wanting to lose a few pounds) I never counted calories and never deprived myself of foods, I just watched my portions very carefully. That is how I have maintained my weight for years. Of course, I am a pretty active person and I would still eat within reason, meaning not a lot of sweets and other junk. This method takes a lot of self control so if you are not the type of person who can take just two bites of something and stop, than I suggest avoiding it altogether.

Also, the more of a habit you get into of eating smaller portions and healthier foods, the less appealing all the other stuff will be, and you should never eat until you feel super full, because that means you are eating too much.
Hope this helps.

Its good to 'cheat' once in a while. As long as this isn't happening on a daily basis, there is nothing wrong with treating yourself once every week or so. In fact, many would argue that it does you good.

btw, creamy mash and sausages does sound pretty darn good ;)
