Prednisone?

I'd confirm with the doctor rather than relying on my googling skills and limited knowledge.. however... says
What are the possible side effects of prednisone?
• If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking prednisone and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately:
· an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
· increased blood pressure (severe headache or blurred vision); or
· sudden weight gain (more than 5 pounds in a day or two).
• Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take prednisone and talk to your doctor if you experience
· insomnia;
· nausea, vomiting, or stomach upset;
· fatigue or dizziness;
· muscle weakness or joint pain;
· problems with diabetes control; or
· increased hunger or thirst.
• Other side effects that occur only rarely, usually with high doses of prednisone, include
· acne,
· increased hair growth,
· thinning of the skin,
· cataracts,
· glaucoma,
· osteoporosis,
· roundness of the face, and
· changes in behavior.
• Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
Steroids are known to cause weight gain.. it's why all the athletes have been known to take them, it's supposed to reduce swelling, not increase it... Please do call the doctor...

What stinks is how badly I was swollen when DH brought me to the clinic on Monday. I had to work to get my rings off and was told to leave them off for about 6 days or so because I would probably swell now and then during this ordeal.
The worst part of this is that last Friday, my weigh-in was 206. At the hospital, they weighed me and I was 211. I just stepped on my own scale and it says 210. GRRRR! I am just going to have to ignore the scale for this next week as I take all these drugs. Something tells me I am not going to be able to do a whole lot about it. I hope this swelling doesn't stick around too long. When I went to the clinic, I was so swollen through the face especially, I barely could recognize myself. Yeah...I waited too long to go in.

oh you poor thing... this ordeal will pass.. and you will be back to yourself soon...

i do know steroid do cause sweeling and weight gain but after you get through with it you go back to normal but may take till its out of the blood stream

It's still gonna stink though. My appetite is really weird right now. I only want carbs. I had made chicken for dinner and the thought of it totally turned my stomach. I ended up with just a hunk of French bread with some jam on it. If this stuff makes me blow up, I will be bummed that I don't make my little mini personal goal of ONEderland by the 1st of next month.
don't worry about your weigh in for now.. the only thing you have to concern yourself iwth is taking care of yourself and feeling better... as pretty as you are... a few more weeks won't hurt your goal any
