pre workout

is there any pre workout techniques, warm ups, stretches, etc i should do. of course i stretch just cuz i do that everyday anyway, but any special warm ups or anything to help me out in my work out? thanks

I am assuming this is pre-lifting here so my answer will be towards that...

You can look into dynamic stretching as it is great pre lifting. Also just simple pattern movement that mimic what you are planning doing (weightless squats, light weight or 30% of strength bicep curls.) I usually do my movement in a mild light way prior to actually doing it all gung ho.

I always just do a warm-up set, like theleip said, enough weight so that you can do the proper form and get a feel for it, but not enough weight to actually be called a set. It just gets your muscles ready for the tough work with your actual sets.

What ever exercise I'm going to do, I mimic the exercise with no weight or bar 1st, using perfect form. I tense and focus my energy to the muscles I will be working.
I stick to the same speed and reps as I will be using when I really lift.

I usually warm up with a set of 50-60% of my max, although this is a very rough estimate.

In addition, I never stretch before working out. I just don't think relieving muscle tension right before you train it is a good idea.
