Powerlifting Log

The guy was screaming and then all of a sudden he had his friend punch him in the head 2 really hard times quick. Sorta near the hair line, top corner of forehead. Not taps, legit punches, HARD enough so it was extremely loud and you could hear it in the other room. Anybody else would have been easily knocked out or dead lol. When he went up to get his medal (he got 1st) you could see a huge very dark red/bleeding in some spots mark that was maybe 3-4 inches in diameter. It was crazy.

LMAO

Good job on all the numbers, yo!

The strength test for football is all this week, so the weight room is only open to them. Since I did the powelifting meet, I don't have to do it, just cleans. It tests your max squat, deadlift, bench press, and clean. So I did cleans today and it's prob last time I'm working out normally until after finals. I have finals all next week so...

5/23 - Wednesday

-Cleans
1x1 @ 45, 65, 85, 105, 115, 125-Failed

So my max clean was 115. That's terrible =\

My strength test total was 830. So, I'm hoping to get that to either 930 or 1,000 by the next time we test in August.

No doubt you'll be getting it mate. This journal is awsome.

I just got my big order from BodyBuilding.com...I love that place =] I'm testing out some new things, so we'll see how it goes :)

Good job on all the numbers, yo!
Thanks Lei, I really want to test out 315, I think I could get it. Maybe sometime next week or w.e

Thanks :) I really want to be alot stronger, quicker and with better endurance. I got alot of work to do

Oh, and the Catholic Conference League meet I did terrible. Embarressing...

There were only 4 of us doing JV discus. So After the first three throws, I was in 3rd with a terrible number - 64' 8" The other two were way ahead with like 93' and 98'. So I thought I got third, but turns out there was another round of throws. So the kid that was in 4th, who fouled, and his 2nd and third throws were in the 50's hit a lucky 70' and the other 2 were in the 50's as well. I wasn't able to counter. So I got 4th place, 1 away from a medal. Damnit =\ I can't believe I was doing so bad, my PR is 71'...max that day was 64' 8".

We ended up losing both the Freshman/Sophmore and Varsity meet to our school rival. The varsity meet came down to the very last event - 4x400 and we barely lost.

The weight room was still closed, so I didn't want to do an actual workout, just work on some things.

Back to the log! I haven't done much weight training lately, I haven't had a weight room to do it in. Since the weight room closed, I'd usually just do bench pressing, but nothing enough to write down. I have upped my cardio ALOT. I've been going out just about 5 nights a week and instead of working on hard running, I'm trying to transition into endurance, slow paced running. It's been going VERY well.

I did some floor cleans. Not much. I also did some squating but am way too embarressed of them to put that up :(

2x1 @ 135....failed on 3rd attempt

Is this at home? If so, I have also realized just how limited working out at home with one bar and no rack is. It's almost more work to move the plates around and set up for some exercises than it is to do the exercises themselves.

Just remember with the power cleans...accelerate hard past the knees by using your hips, and shrug hard. I'll bet if you got your tech down pat, you'd be in the 160's and 70's.

Dude...you are 150% right on with this. I get so tired after moving the plates and bar around to dif positions...ugh. Yeah, it's at home...only a bench and a bar just about. I tried to turn the bar holders around and raise them...I did, then I put the bar on, good. Then I put 45's then 25's on each side. When I went under it and was about to start, it fell back down. The things that raise it just gave way. I was so pissed, then just went from the size a bench is and did 135 for 5 reps...with somewhat difficulty.

I know I'm doing them wrong still...I just can't figure out what is wrong, or how to correct it. It's such a different lift than what I'm used to. One of my good buddies is a kicker on the football team, weighs like 130 and he cleaned 150 at the Strength Test o_O

Oh I know how that is...when you set things up and they don't turn out right, you can't even seem to get decent work out of yourself. Cleaning and BTN pressing to do good mornings is the worst. I mean I have an oly bar and standard plates, but things STILL suck without a good rack. It's 100x worse for those that don't have any of that and are working out with a 15 lb bar with cement weights.

I can't do workouts for tomorrow or the next day (at least I probably can't, hopefully acn) So I did 2 main lifts.

-Deadlifts (without belt...i know, i know big deal huh, but usually I use a belt at school)
5x5 @ 225

-Bench

Yep, football in '07-'08. I prob won't come close to starting, beacuse 1 I'm too short, and I'm starting too late...but that will make me work 3 times harder. I really want to make a splash at football. Prove myself.

lol...don't break myself? or someone else? :D
