Powerlifting Log

One of the bigger powerlifters said the shirt helps him about 25 pounds. Lol, that's alot.

I think it's official. I'm going to talk to the head football coach tomorrow and ask him watch position he thinks I should go for. I'm going to play football next year =]
 
Yea, Football is the route to go.

I have met people who have gotten the shirt to assist over 100lbs. As you strength goes up and you adapt to the shirt it really makes a big difference.

Shirts are fun. My arms, chest, and shoulders looked like hell after playing with an Inzer one day.
 
Had a good self workout today. The weight room and all after school activities were canceled because it's graduation night for the seniors.

I was planning on getting up at 6 and workingout before school...but I woke up at 6, then feel back asleep lol. So instead of weights, I went down to a field and did my own little workout tonight. It felt great and kicked my ass pretty good.

5/11 - Friday

SPRINTS

4 sets / 20 second rest in between
-running 3/4 max speed 15 yards (45 feet) then going right into full sprint for 15 yards (45 feet)

4 sets / 1 minute rest in between
-running 3/4 max speed 30 yards (90 feet) then going right into full sprint for 30 yards (90 feet)

4 sets / 20 second rest in between
-(again) running 3/4 max speed 15 yards (45 feet) then going right into full sprint for 15 yards (45 feet)

BOX DRILLS
(at baseball diamond. all done as fast as possible)

4 sets / 1 minute rest in between
-Home->1st = High Knees
-1st -> 2nd = Slides
-2nd -> 3rd = Back Peddling
-3rd->Home = Kareokes

RUNNING

-ran about 1/2 mile home

1) I'm not sure, not more than a few pounds.
2) 70 feet and something inches, I forget
3) technique is pretty hard to get down, it's the most important thing. I haven't looked for any sites, but just typing in 'discus throwing technique' in google, I got this page

I didn't really read through the site, just skimmed it. I found Centrifugal force on wikipedia...I mean, if wikipedia says it's true..it has to be, right? lol



Last lifting for the rest of the week, and today was our last practice for Track & Field. We have a very big meet tomorrow, our school and our school's rival are both undefeated, and tomorrow decides the championship. We are not only the defending champions, but it would make it the last 3 of 4 years of us winning.

At this moment, I think this is how it's going to play out at the meet. Most likely I will change the weights based on the lift before.

Squat
-185
-215 w/ knee wraps
-230? w/ knee wraps

Bench
-150 w/ shirt
-170 w/ shirt maybe wrist wraps
-180/185? w/ shirt and wrist wraps

Deadlift

-275
-300/305


Squat is really open. I got 225x1 with wraps on May 1st, tried squating again May 8th and got 215x1...so hopefully that was just a bad day and the adrenaline and cheer of the crowd will excell me.

Bench is open too. I got 185x2 with the bench shirt. I have to do the hold at the bottom, so I don't know how much that will effect me.

I'm REALLY hoping for the 305 deadlift...but I think 300 will be good for me. If I get 275 easy, I'm definitley going for broke at 305. I got 265 at the last meet, but thought I could have done more.

If my totals are
230, 185, and 305...that will be 100 more than my last meet's totals. I got 205, 150, and 265 last meet...so all them added will be 100 more. :D

I'm not too happy right now...

I just found out this morning that I qualified to go to the Catholic Conference League meet on Saturday. I would be very happy with that because it's only me and one other discus thrower from my school that are able to go...except it is at the same time my New England Powerlifting Championship is. I talked to the Track & Field head coach and my powerlifting coach and they both said that since I qualified, that I had to go and that the school superceeds. I would rather go to the powerlifting meet, but they didn't give me an option.

So the event I've been training for for 5 months, and looking forward to for the last 2 months I can't go to. Ever since the March meet I've been telling myself that I will have huge numbers at the New England Chapionship meet. Not going to happen. Damnit...
 
Merciless. Qualifying for a meet is always cool. Use this to kick A**.

There are always more powerlifting contests. Use the time to get even stronger and get bigger lifts.

A year from now it won't matter because you will be competing at an even higher level. :D
 
WOOT!!!!!! Great News!!!!!

The Track and Field Catholic Conference League meet has been postponed due to all the pouring rain!! So tomorrow I can go to the Powerlifting meet, then Tuesday go to the Track and Field meet! Yay, I can do both now!

Not only that, but I talked to the head football coach and signed up for football for next year. Yay =]

HELL YEAH! I had a great meet. It was New England Powerlifting Championship. I didn't win a medal, but I had great numbers.

Squat
-185 (clean, no hardware)
-215 (w/ knee wraps. Failed They said I went up, back down, then back up after going down. So I missed it not for strength. I talked to the judge and he told me, then he said 'the strength is there' which I repeated to my self on the 230 squat-it worked =])

715 total ... My March 24th meet was 620 ... up 95 total pounds


The meet was great. There was a 161 pounds 84 year old. You think he wouldn't put up big numbers? WRONG. He got a 370 squat, 210 bench, and a 420 deadlift. Everyone was going nuts when he got up to lift. I went up to him in the lockeroom, congratulated him and told him I had to shake his hand. Extremely nice guy, didn't even look 84 or seem it. We talked a bit and he said he started lifting at 65 and ever since, his numbers have been going up slowly.

Another good story. A big tough guy going for a 3rd attempt 570 pound deadlift had his buddy with him. His buddy was a wicked jacked guy, probably around 300. The guy was screaming and then all of a sudden he had his friend punch him in the head 2 really hard times quick. Sorta near the hair line, top corner of forehead. Not taps, legit punches, HARD enough so it was extremely loud and you could hear it in the other room. Anybody else would have been easily knocked out or dead lol. When he went up to get his medal (he got 1st) you could see a huge very dark red/bleeding in some spots mark that was maybe 3-4 inches in diameter. It was crazy.

The strength test for football is all this week, so the weight room is only open to them. Since I did the powelifting meet, I don't have to do it, just cleans. It tests your max squat, deadlift, bench press, and clean. So I did cleans today and it's prob last time I'm working out normally until after finals. I have finals all next week so...


5/23 - Wednesday

1x1 @ 45, 65, 85, 105, 115, 125-Failed


So my max clean was 115. That's terrible =\

My strength test total was 830. So, I'm hoping to get that to either 930 or 1,000 by the next time we test in August.
