Power Protein

Has anyone heard of or tried a diet plan called Power Protein? I have a friend who tried it and she was on it for 8 weeks and reached her goal weight and kept it off. This is a plan that is monitored by a doctor and is supposedly safe? I like to workout and am wondering if this diet provides enough nutrition for the calories I burn? Any information would be helpful.

The Protein Power Diet: Low Carb, High Protein Diet Plan

Susan B. Roberts, PhD, a professor of nutrition and psychiatry at Tufts University in Boston, Ma., and co-author of Feeding Your Child for Lifelong Health, does not recommend the diet because there is no good evidence that low-carbohydrate diets work any more effectively than conventional ones. Furthermore, she says, "Because they cut back on foods that have multiple health benefits, they may reduce health in the long term."

Roberts notes that the Protein Power regimen may work for many, but the reason is different from the theory put forth in the book. It simply may be the lack of variety that works to reduce overall calorie intake. "Protein Power and most other popular diet books substantially reduce the variety of foods you are allowed to eat -- and variety itself is a major promoter of overeating," she says.

What type of "Workout" do you do ?

My diet is very High Protein and Low carb . Just eat your High carb meal after your training. Your body is more likely to do something with them. Dont eat High amounts of carbs on non training days .Carbs are fuel nothing else .
But so is fat.
So long as you eat enough fats and protien your be fine (Good Fats).

a high protein diet can do more harm then good.... if quantity of protein taken is not consumed... it can have very adverse effects on your digestive system....

Whey protein powder is a good weight gain powder. i use it in past and gain weight but now me have much weight so want to lose.
