OK, this week I really kicked it into high gear. I had been exercising 3 times a week for the two previous weeks. This week for exercise:

Monday: Boot camp class for 1 hour. My Polar watch says I burned 640 calories.
Tuesday: Road my bike to work (11 miles) and played ultimate frisbee at lunch for an hour.
Wednesday: Boot Camp again polar says I burned ~ 600 calories
Thursday: 45 minutes eliptical. Polar says ~400 calories
Friday: Everlast Workout Polar says 55 minutes, 130 avg heart rate, 145 max heart rate, 610 calories lost.

Food, I will start today, but it is pretty much consistent with what I normally do:

Protein Shake in the morning ~300 calories
Apple 85 calories
Propel 30 calories
Peanut Butter sandwich 380 calories
Grapes 113 calories
Carrots 50 calories

I am having chicken breast and broccoli for dinner.

My before photo's

I can't believe I am doing this. I will work on getting better pictures.

Welcome to the forum! :)

What is your starting weight? You seem a bit light on calories for the day..sitting at 958, probably getting another hm 400 at most at supper. Just friendly advice :)

Thanks Shy!!!

Starting weight is 240. I had a cliff bar on the way home from work, so that is another 260 calories. How many should I be having a day? I have been shooting for 270.

I can't really say until i know more about you (and calorie counting is not an exact science). There are calculators you can find online, and perhaps on a sticky on this site as well (not sure) which can help you figure out the ballpark range. Once you figure out your maintenance calories you can subtract 500 or so to get the calories you need to lose weight.

You have been shooting for 1270 calories? That is definitely too low...without even knowing anything else about you i can guess you shouldn't be having less than around 1700-1800 calories/day.

haha, sorry not sure where the 270 coming. I am shooting for 2000. Whats more do you want to know...heck I put a picture of me in my underwear, so there isn't much I guess I won't share...lol

Ok, if you are shooting for 2000 that sounds pretty good i would say :)

Finished off last night fairly well. I was surprising my wife with a trip to the movies (Eclipse). I did not have time to properly eat before so I scarfed down a chicken breast. After suffering through...I mean watching my wife enjoy the movie, I was starving, so I had a yogurt and watermelon when I got home. Unfortunatly I wake up STARVING a lot. I had a bowl of cereal during the night :(

Now out to mow the lawn and change my brakes.

Hey welcome!

I know how you feel about posting photos-- I was SO nervous and meh about posting mine. But it's important, I think, to keep photos to document your progress and to keep your forum buddies updated! Anyway, welcome and good luck!!! xxx

Awwww...I wanna go! hahaha! I bet she loved that though...that was nice of you. I just thought I'd pop in here and say Hi :waving:and check out your journal since you left a comment in mine. Good luck with your weight loss! I'll be checking back in on ya! See ya! :)

I wonder how much not being able to sleep is affecting my weight loss. I am tired of getting 2-3 hours of sleep.

dang the fourth was tough. After exercising 6 days last week, I spent all day on the 4th with the kids at the pool and all day yesterday doing yard work and cleaning the house so my wife wouldn't have to when she got home from work. Today i am back to work. I have my regularly scheduled workout class today, but some A-hole scheduled me for a meeting right in the middle of the class, so it will probably just be eliptical today. Then tomorrow we are going on a family vacation through the weekend... so much for all my hardwork last week. grrrrr

Last night I went and had a sleep test done. I don't understand how they expect you to actually sleep when you have wires coming out of you like you are darth vader.

hey dude well done for sharing photos. You are braver than I am :) (edit- you just inspired me to put up a pic on my diary... its not a naked pic.. I dont think I am ready for that quite yet but thank you for inspiring me to do it.)

Out of interest what height are you?

OK back to my journal... I was at 1680 yesterday on calories. I did 40 minutes of pilates and 20 minutes of Zumba...yes that is right Zumba. I guess I can't make fun of it anymore. My polar watch said I burned 450 calories.

I am tired of being fat

I am back again. I have exercised for the last 6-8 months 4-5 times a week and nothing. GRRRRRRR So frustrated right now...but off to the gym anyway. :angelsad2::angelsad2::angelsad2:

So I have been really swamped and just haven't had time to record my food. For now I am going to record my exercise and quickly what I ate without the calorie info.

Bowl of Chex
Orange
Cookie
Lean Cuisine
orange
Fish sandwich at home with the fam
Green beans
strawberries
pork and beans
granola bar

One portion on everything above.

For exercise today I did Day 4 of Jillian Michaels' Making the Cut book

Yesterday I did 60 minutes on the eliptical.

Hang in there - Exercise is beneficial any way you cut it. I know weight training makes a big difference for me - not so much weight loss at this point - but reshaping. And I feel strong.

Mix it up a bit - it WILL happen.

Thanks Jennifer!

Today's food:
bowl of chex
banana
lean cuisine
orange
yougurt
subway oven roasted chicken sandwich

Exercise:
35 minutes of eliptical while doing arm weights (curls, hammers, w-shoulder presses, etc)
1 minute wall sit
