Posture

I'm not sure where to put this but something thats been buggin me a long time is my posture. I'm not sure if its from all the years of swimming (typical swimmers hunch) or that I carry a lot of muscle in my upper back but no matter how far I try and rotate my shoulders back, they are still not in correct form, or in line with my neck. I can literally put them all the way back, look sideways in the mirror and still see the opposite shoulder too far forward.

I have done some googling on the subject and some sites have said that regular chiro care and deep tissue massage will help this.

Anyone know? Any other ideas? I often get pain in my shoulders and back from it.

Common complaint with swimmers ;)

You might try balancing out your awesome posterior strength with some pec work.

But is there nothing I can do for that forward rotation of the shoulders? Its ugly!. I do pec work but so far it hasn't seemed to do much but make my boobs smaller. hehe-not good :(

Pec work made my boobs stuck out much farther, thereby making them LOOK bigger :D (whatever helps ...)

I think NBS is on the right track here by targetting the shoulder :)

Hopefully it helps!

This will need to be verified with pics

Sparrow - I have had so many issues with my shoulders from swimming. It started with what you are experiencing. I can only lift my arms straight up in front of me 80% of the time. Doing what they said in the article has helped me heaps in my opinion.

I have a similar problem, my shoulders are naturally set forward and im slightly hunched. For me i reckon its just the way im built.

it's probably an imbalance and not the way you're built:p
