Post Your Opinion: Pre/Post workout actions

Do you intake something before or after a workout?

What is it?

How much of it do u take? If it is not a natural product, what kind of substance are you instaking?

What does it contain?

What are the effects, and your comment?

I always drink a shake after a workout. Even if I'm gonna eat a meal. Since my schedule calls for a shake around 4-430pm, I get a shake in before a work out too.

Apple - preworkout:
Along with my cutting diet, this insures my muscle tissue is not tapped into for fuel while weight training.

Whey/dextrose shake - postworkout
This replenishes lost muscle glygogen store during intense weight training and shuttles protein to the muscles while it is in it's most anabolic state.

preworkout is either a shake made from oats, milk/egg protein powder, olive and water plus a banana or a regular meal say like chicken/sweet potato

postworkout is 10 ounces of milk with 30 grams of whey and 20 grams of dextrose plus a banana.

Preworkout- Small meal, could be anything from almonds to a banana. Just a little metabolism boost, sometimes 3g creatine and NO2 (just because I wasted my money on it.)

Post w/out I drink 8oz milk with 27g whey protein shake. 3g creatine also. Then a little bit later I eat a high protein meal, maybe salmon or tuna with some veggies.

Pre, usually a small snack like a nature valley bar, yogurt, granola, fruit, nothing too big.

Post, calories in a can basically, a shake, around 600 calories (45 from fat) 85 carbs (28 from sugars), 52 g protein (blends, isolates/concentrates, etc) and small scoop of creatine, 3-5 g.

Just trying to bulk/gain right now, when I'm not, it's usually a whey isolate shake or snack with some other protein.

Not a good idea to consume fats with your carbs following your workout while bulking or cutting. This is when your body is at it's most anabolic state. When you take in the carbs your insulin levels will spike (depending on how high the GI of the carb is) and therefore will greatly promote fat storage during this time, if a fat is consumed with your pro/carb shake.

I don't take any shakes, supplements or meal replacements...Should I? And I never eat right before a workout. I feel it upsets my stomach. I eat afterwards though as that is when my metabolism is highest for a start. So should I eat before my workout, and should I take some form of supplements?
