Pleased with Day 1

Yesterday was day 1 and I'm pleased with how it went - I still need to improve a lot of things, but most importantly for day 1, I was conscious of the choices I made.

I managed to drink 2.2 L of water - I have a gigantic water bottle that holds all 8 glasses of water. I filled it up first thing in the morning and I kept looking at it thinking, 'how on earth am I ever going to drink that in 1 day?' (It has been a VERY long time since I've drank that much water). So I broke it up - I drank 1/3 before lunch, 1/3 between lunch and dinner and 1/3 before bed and it was totally doable - yay!

Some of my small victories were:

Instead of the usual 3-4 pieces of toast for breakfast, I had 3/4 c branflakes with 1 c milk and a cup of fruit - much better, and more filling - who knew?!:ack2:

I made a big batch of beef barley soup with tons of veggies and had 1 bowl instead of 2 or 3. I have to say it wasn't easy, but it did feel good (after about 10 mins!)

My downfall for the day was pizza, but I ate 2 pieces instead of my usual 4 - and that felt really good as well.

The most suprising part, was that throughout the day, I bet I cut out 1/3 of what I usually ate, and I didn't feel hungry at all.

Exercise for the day consisted of playing tag with our kids (in the basement, as it was -44C out yesterday).

Not a perfect day, but MUCH better than the way I've been living for a long time.

Today is day 2 and my water is 1/3 gone, and I've had a sensible breakfast - logging onto here sure helps when I feel like putting a slice of bread into the toaster - reading journals and looking at before/after pics sure puts my desire to eat into perspective.

Looking forward to another positive day...
