I need some inspiration. I do so good on my diet at work, but some days when I get home I can't resist. Last night when I got home I was so angry and stressed out because of my husband I thought that I would just be a little bad and eat a bowl of cereal, well that turned into 2 bowls of cereal. Now I feel so guilty, I need to stop this and just stick to my diet. I want to lose this baby weight more than anything!!

PLEASE HELP!

Please help!!

I need some words of encouragement. I want to lose this baby weight more than anything. I am good at work all day, but some times when I come home I can't help but eat something bad. I try to keep it down to 1 or 2 times a week I will cheat. But it gets so hard when your angry & stressed out over someone. My husband can drive me nuts! And he doesn't motivate me. I hoping to get some motivation from you guys. You all seem really nice.
I just need to leave the junk alone. One of my largest weaknesses in sugary cereal. Last night I thought I would just eat one bowl, but that just turned into 2.
I really want this weight off of me. I'm just having such a hard time without a support system at home.

Well one thing I would do if I were you is shake the defeatist attitude. Two bowls of cereal is not the end of the world. If you can learn to let go of assosciating food with guilt then you will be much better off - feeling guilty about food just sets a person up for failure because an indulgence becomes an "oh no! I've ruined my diet, I guess I'm hopeless and should just give up" kind of thing.

Also I wonder if you are eating enough during the day. Does being "good" mean not eating very much? Personally, I find that eating every couple of hours (a small combo of protein, carbs and healthy fat) keeps me from becoming ravenous and bingeing on whatever is around at the end of the day.
Also, if you have not already, perhaps you should try speaking to your husband about needing his support for your efforts to be successful.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. But as far as eating carbs, that is a BIG NO NO! I am on the Atkins diet. It is the only diet I find that works for me. I don't think that I starve myself, I usually eat some pepporoni & cheese for lunch, then salad or a meat for dinner. I do snack on low carb things in the evening. There is just that time once or twice a week where I give into temptation.

To be honest, seems like you set up too many boundaries for yourself which leads to feelings of guilt when you eat something that some Plan says you aren't aloud to.

That's no way to live, especially considering the only real way to lose the fat and keep it off is appropriate and PERMANENT lifestyle modification.

I have abs and I eat junk pretty much daily.

I understand n=1 is a crappy sample population, but there are a ton others who do the same. As long as you getting the essentials in in terms of nutrients and controlling cals.... you'll be fine.

Just coming from a different angle is all. I know I wouldn't want to be feeling guilty b/c I 'cheated' 1-2 times per week. That's not healthy, mentally IMO.

Get yourself some sugarfree Jello pudding, that always works for me in the evening when I need something "sugary" tasting. I have also been on a low carb diet for just over 4 years, so I know where you are coming from. I also go to the gym 5-6 evenings to work out all of the stress. I tend to be an emotional eater so that tends to take the urge away. Good luck!

Thank you for all the advice and the encouragment. It really means alot. Some good news, I lost 2 lbs this week!

yer. plus it wasnt that big a slip up. eating two bowls of cerial is way better than geting a take out pizza. what serial is it you have?

congratualtions kt052204 on the 2 lb weight loss! also i agree with the the posters...eating cereal will not wreck your weightloss...there are a lot worse things you could be eating! Just keep a diary of everything that goes into your mouth everyday and don't get down about a little slip up like eating cereal! good luck :)

:waving: from :eh:
Congratulations on your 2 lb loss for this week! The way I look at temporary setbacks (eg. 2 bowls of cereal) is this: If you dropped 1 egg on the floor, would you throw the whole carton on the floor? NO WAY! You'd clean up the one egg, and be more careful next time.

Speaking as a wife & Mum who has certainly known her share of frustrations in marriage, I urge you to try and get a different perspective on whatever is troubling you. There is a solution to your dilemma, whatever that dilemma is. You just need to be open to finding the solution. Do not let anyone else "make you stuck" in your situation, honey! BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOURSELF.

I hope that helps, and that you are having a much better day today! Best wishes on your weightloss journey. :driving: Things do get better!

Cheers

Hey there! Don't feel guilty. I am the same way. It's funny, if I don't work out for a week I REALLY feel it because I eat so much food. Not sure why, but it does make me feel better as I am sure it does for you.

As long as you stick to a strict workout schedule, and diet for 6 of the days I am sure that one day won't matter much :)

Thanks everyone. I've been doing much better. I start kick boxing classes tomorrow! I am so excited. I have taken them in the past and it really helps!!
