Hi everybody,
I've just started a program to tone my body into good shape with a local gym including free-weights, body-weight and cardio. One thing that I don't understand is this problem about hitting a plateau.
I don't want to be bulging with muscle out of my clothes like most of the weightlifting guys that seem to be the instructors, I just want some decent toning and maintain that shape. All of the programs detailed in the gym discuss avoiding reaching plateau and about increasing weight and repetitions. What do I do when I've reached a shape and performance level I am happy with? Do I still need to change routine, weight and repetitions?
I am worried that if I don't keep adjust my program and keep increasing the specification of it that I will lose the toning I will have achieved.
Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks.
