PinkyDolly's Diary

Cannon, it tastes real yummy! feels so satisfied even with one. lol....

There's a chinese dinner somwhere tonite and friends have reserved 2 tables. i've nt given my answer yet since my supervisor is in hospital and i might go see her instead of satisfying my belly. the doc is putting her on antibiotics drip. So until the full course is finished, she wn't be discharged. she complaint of boredom when the first batch of colleagues visited last nite. guess i'll go tonite and inject some fun back into her lol:jump:

Burning Lips of Fire!

To brighten things up.... my guy colleague came back frm a working trip in Sichuan, China. and that's the place famous for spicy hot oily hotpot! YUMYUM! he got me 2 bottles of chili and a pack of chili paste. Goin to taste awesome with my fish soup! Just told him I can't stop thinking of lunch now, wish I can cook in the pantry now! and he actually blushed. oh my..... first time i see a guy blush. Thought that's kinda cute. heheh....

Lucky You!!!

Mmmmmmm Sichuan Food!!! I have only been to Chengdu, Sichuan once but I have been to Chongqing a couple times, and they are pretty similar in flavor and cooking style. Every meal is red with spice. I absolutely love hot and spicy! Which is suprising to most who knew me years ago. With my constant tummy troubles and ulcers, spicy was a word in the same category as poison and "Don't even think about it!". Shenzhen is very cool in the fact it is a Chinese immigrant city. We get people, cultures and food from every corner of China here. Including Sichuan. My favorite to date (and likely high up on your list considering how much fish you eat) is fried fish sichuan style. Wow! I am not a huge fish fan, but fry it up in peppers and spices that would kill a yak and I am a happy boy!

Can't wait to go back there again.

Chongqing!!!!!!!! OH manz... there are so many shops called Chongqing steamboat that there is a mini 'war' goin on. Some shops have upped themselves by claiming theirs to be the ORIGINAL. lol..... As if that makese a difference to Singaporeans. As long as we see cheap n good food, nothing else matters hahaha.
Ulcers n tummy problems definitely dun go together with spicy stuff. So sad! U r missing out on a lot of yummy things! That sichuan style fried fish really sounds tempting.... i got a pack of sichuan tofu sauce and I think it'll taste awesome on the fish!

China is really a great place to hang out. esp Da Hu Kou St in Beijing. locals and expats students/professionals flock to that area and amazing to hear more than 5 languages in one place! Talk about going international!
I really want to visit there again when I slim down somemore. Those cute tees near the Zoo shoppin area is a must-go! Ahhhh..... it's nice to daydream again. :jump:

U r so fortunate to be able to live there!

Howdy daydreamer....I wish I can eat fish it is so good for ya
but the only fish I eat is COD or Walleye and it has to be battered and
deepfried lol BAD.There has to be a way to cook cod tho so it won't
taste fishy and taste good at the same time?
Well hope you have a nice day Tammy

my mum sometimes steam them with mushroom. it tastes yummy! if u r worried abt fishy smell, put sliced ginger and with abit of diced garlic on top. i eat them with chili paddi lol.

or if u prefer western cuisine, bake the codfish with mango sauce. tastes great!

if u dare, do it the japanese way! RAW! dip with ginger slices + vinegar... hohoho:rotflmao:

Tks liz, cannon and cerella! Managed to retrieve frm my pc after a long search. I just got my Samsung camera tonite! So I can update with more thunderous thighs and arms hahahaha.

Also got a set of faux leather sofa which will be delivered tomorrow. First time I am gettin a piece of furniture for the living room. Heartpain... lol. Costs $500. Mum has been bitten by some bugs in the old sofa and bro has warned the bugs poison her blood if she gets bitten often. He's a Bio teacher so I took him seriously. Hopefully this sofa will last longer and mum won't get bitten anymore. And good thing we have free bulky item removal service here so we don't have to shift the old one out ourselves.:jump:

Goin to charge my new camera now. Have a good day everyone!:)

yea those bugs dat oozes blood in all direction when u caught and squeeze them flat. :eek2:

she actually passed money to my dad to get a new one and he NEVER bought it! I am so mad! 1) that he didn't get the sofa.... 2) she was so gullible to give him the $ to buy one. this despite years of experiencing his irresponsible selfish behavior

Hi Pinky. Thanks for stopping by my diary. I'm sorry to read here about your recent sad news. I hope you feel better about all of this with each passing day.

Your food diary is interesting! I love sichuan, but can't really eat the very spicy local stuff. Thankfully I enjoy fresh fish and local veggies with garlic are amazing, so I never struggle with finding something good locally. A little challenge if I'm craving steak and potatoes, but a small price to pay for living in Asia for a few years..........

Gives whole new meaning to "don't let the bed bugs bite". I'm glad you got a new couch. That was a very thoughtful gesture too.

Nice to see ya!

Hey pinkdolly,

I gotta say I agree with everyone else! Great new avatar and you are a cutie! Can't wait to see some pics from the new camera!

As for the ulcers and spicy food, no worries at all! I cured myself of those problems years ago with the master cleanser and now that I am so much fitter and healthier I can eat food that would have hurt me to look at before... I bought a small jar of pickled peppers here the other day.... So cheap I couldn't believe it (and from the import store too!). When I eat these little things I am reminded of the old bugs bunny cartoons where the character eats something spicy and flames come shooting out of their ears..... Come to think of it, I haven't got any hair in my ears.... And what are those sotty black marks on the earlobes...?

I think thats great that there are so many steamboat restaurants there. I have eaten on the real deal so I am jaded now and miss that "real" Chongqing cuisine. But the thing I miss the most is something I am suprised I remembered. Of course in China it is no secret that men, especially doing business, LOVE to drink large amounts of alcohol. And usually it is that god awfull 50-60% Bai jiu (white alcohol for those who dont know). Back home we call it moonshine or more appropriately "paint thinner". Well, after a particularly successful business deal the boys took me out to show there appreciation. And though I did not partake in the "lovely ladies" that were lined up and offered to me (another story in itself...) I did "accidentally" let a bunch of bai jiu get into me. Needless to say by the time I was walking, no, staggering back to the hotel I was feeling no pain and could have been on the moon for all I knew.... Then I saw her... She wasn't beautiful, nor was she charming, but she had one of those little street corner BBQ's that many people shy away from. I had a peak and picked out a couple slices of paper thin bean curd. BBQ'ed with spicy sauce, stuck on stick for 8 cents. I then proceeded to continue back to the hotel with treats in hand.

Wow!!! Super spicy and SUPER DUPER good!!!!! I will remember those little street corner treats till the day I die and would go back to CQ in a second to get them..... And who knows, once the summer is over, I just might.

Forget the history and the shopping and the spicy food, I want THAT tofu again and again and again.....

Raw cod.... Thats nothing!

if u dare, do it the japanese way! RAW! dip with ginger slices + vinegar... hohoho:rotflmao:

Ever tried "drunken shrimp" from China?

Nasty!!!

Basically you take living shrimp, dip them in pure Bai Jiu (60% rice wine) and spices for a few minutes. Then you eat them kicking and screaming..... Well ok, maybe not sceaming, but definitely still moving.

NAAAAAASSTTTYYY!

I am not big on raw food, but definitely anti-live food!

Thats one thing I don't like about japan, they do eat quite a bit of "live" dishes.....

So far drunken shrimp are the only live things they eat here.

Very cute av Pinky! Try to get some bug killer for the area around the couch too so the new one doesn't get these same bugs.

Ha sirant I don't like raw/living food. My frend scolded me when I dump a pile of sashimi into a steamboat once! Lol... I must hv it cooked!
i love shrimps! Seafood! Squids as well. We';ve the sauce called Belachan. It's hot n spicy goes good with bbq seafood!

I left tofu in office. On leave today. So i can't hv my tofu today!!!!!!:drooling:
Bai Jiu is lethal! Yeeks! How can anyone drink that?! Can imagine the liver screaming.

Oh my goshhhhhh your a hott mama!!!!!!:eek2:

Is this a prophecy? I am not married yet. Lol.
Oh yea... this gal gonna be hotter in a month's time. (I sure hope).

Very cute av Pinky! Try to get some bug killer for the area around the couch too so the new one doesn't get these same bugs.

Wow... tks for the suggestion. I was looking around for bugs today. Wonder if theres any left crawling around... I sure dun want them to multiply in my house!
