I am currently going through the process of having the gastric bypass surgury. My current weight is 270 and my goal weight is 140. My surgury date is January 24th. I am nervous but I am ready to change my life. I want you all to know that I do not think that having susrgury is the easy way out and I don't believe that its right for everyone I just feel that it is right for me. I will still need suport as I have to change my life and my eating habits. I have also started to be more active My goal is to get up to 90 min a day in exersise.

Good luck with the surgery! Two of my friends (they are sisters) had the surgery and had good results.

Take care!

jus wonderin

Have you eva had your thyroid checked ? I seen sumthin on tv yesterday bout how this girl worked out all the time and ate good but couldn't drop pounds l8tr after the op she was with a trainer and after a lil success he told her to get her thyroid checked , turned out she waz way under normal , so no matter how much she worked out or how good she ate , she waz destined to nevr lose weight , in fact he told her that he waz surised that she didn't weight more !

Thanks for the advice chris. I have had it check and it is alittle slow, but not bad enough that my Doctor thought that I needed to take any medications for it.

Things have been going great. I am getting alittle nervous as my surgary date is getting closer. I have to start my 2 week clear liquid diet on Jan 10, and on the 24th I go in for the surgary. I will post and let you all know how it went I will also try to post a new pic every month of my results.:)

I started my clear liquid protein diet yesterday. I made it through day one ya ya ya. I will have to take it one day at a time for the next 13 days. I have been told this is the hardest part of having the surgury. I will keep you all up to date on how I am doing.

THe two weeks before your surgury you are only allowed clear liquids such as broth, sugar free jello, crystal light, water, sugar free popsicals, and than I have to have 100 grams of protein a day through protein drinks. I have been on this now for 5 days and have lost 8lbs I am hoping that I will loss 20 before my surg.

Good luck! Surgery isn't an easy thing to go through. I used to work at a hospital where we specialized in those surgeries. Some of the things those poor people went through...ugh.

Just remember that you can undo all the benefits of the surgery if you don't follow the doctor's diet plan for you after you can start eating again.

Good luck to you! Keep us posted!

I was thinkin she would be having it soon - for some reason i thought it was on the 27th though :O

Hope shes ok :)
