Picture Diary: From 164 to 100!

I'm going to show my math quickly, so I'm on the same page:
My BMR, at 159lbs, Female, and 5'0" is 1527.7. So I should be eating no more than 1527 calories, or anything less than 1068 (1527-(1527*30%)=1068. I read in one of the stickies, that you shouldn't eat less than this).

My "seated lifestyle" on FitDay puts me at spending 1951 calories a day naturally, PLUS another 112 for my 1.6 mile walks.

FitDay tells me that to lose 1.9lbs a week, I need to lose 0.28lbs a day. 0.28/3500 = 987. So 987 is my restriction.

(1951+112) - 987 = 1076

So to lose 1.9lbs a week, with my current routine (which will grow and progress as I do), I need to be eating 1076 calories. I could exercise out another 150 calories, then I could eat 1220 to be in line with my goal, but I'm not ready yet to do that. Give me another week and I may decide to double my walk--or intensify it.

Sorry for getting all mathy! But I really do enjoy numbers! And I really want to do this right! You guys are being sooo helpful!! I love it!

Eating around 1,000 calories/day is just bad. You have to remember that your body naturally burns calories throughout your daily routine, even if you just sit there, so eating such a small amount is just terrible for you. Other people have already mentioned it, but it's a "rule of thumb" that 1,200 calories should be the minimum amount of calories that a person should consume in a day.

And, your height has nothing to do with it. You're a normal sized person, so don't think that being 5' tall changes anything, you know? You still burn up energy just like the rest of us, so you need to eat, just like the rest of us.

Also, I'm really glad you decided to join the forum and lose weight with all of us. It seems like you really want to get to your goal, so I'm sure you'll get there. If you don't, I'm going to start peeing in your cereal. Then, you'll be like, "Did you pee in my cereal?" And I'll be like, "What? Nooooo, that's crazy". Then you'll give me a weird look, but eat it anyway, and I'll be like, "HA HAAAAA!!! I DID pee in your cereal". Then you'll spit it out and some cheesey 1980's sitcom music will start playing and the credits will roll.

What the fuck am I talking about?

Good luck with the weight loss journey and with the contest. I'll be there, rooting you on the whole time. WOO HOO!!!

Oh my  Picking on cheesy comedy is one of my laugh buttons Chef! How dare you push it!!

I'm now properly eating no less than 1200 calories, so there's no need to fear! I got a little panicked that my numbers aren't going down, but after reading someone else say they were dieting for 3 weeks before the weight started dripping off... well, that calmed my nerves. Most of my updates are going to be edited into the first post (makes it easier for people to read) and I'll usually bump the diary when I update it.

However, I want to bring up something that isn't exactly an update, but still belongs in my diary. (Let's call it a "rant.")

So I was surfing through Google videos, under "sexy dance" (Don't ask.) and this shiny video pops up:

Well, I didn't think much of it. In fact, I thought it was kind of cute. Mostly, I was filled with some kind of motherly pride that this girl had the courage (and energy) to be in the spot light, dancing and moving, wearing less clothes then I would at my current weight... and yeah. You know, I just felt proud and junk, I guess.

Until I scrolled down to read the comments. (You'll have to click "view all comments" to see them, or click .) Now you see, for the past two or so weeks I've been stalking forums and blogs about weight loss, and most of those forums and blogs are made by or contain larger people, like the girl in the video. So while I may not BE that big, I certainly sympathize (NOT to be mistaken with empathize!) with the girl, and am personally hurt by the comments. I forgot what it's like out there in the "real world," outside of these communities that argue that being fat is no worse than being anorexic, or that there's nothing wrong with being fat, only being unhealthy. FURTHERMORE, she seems SO young. Way too young to have to deal with such brash and blunt judgment. Perhaps (and hopefully) she'll never see that video online, or the comments, but that doesn't change how I feel.

People can be so cruel. I just want to shove them all into a blender sometime and turn it on for a minute. :banghead:

Rant over!

You haven't updated in a while...everything still going ok in Weightlossland? What a stupid thing to say. "Weightlossland"...???
