Phoenyx's Final 10 & Journey to Fitness

Sorry 'bout that. 'Imagine', in this case, was intended for heft and inconvenience purposes. A comparative by struggle, if you will.

Gliding through the aisles at minus 80 or nego 150 makes us wonder why tolerated those segments of our lives back then, doesn't it ??

It is a thing of beauty, now, especially when it takes no imagination what-so-ever :)

heh... I know. I had been thinking of my Ol Fat Hound Doggie (what we used to call her) a bit before I read your message... so it just fit in better than a calf.

Yeah, I go up flights of stairs, remembering having to schlep that extra weight up the stairs with me. Or firmly wedging itself in airplane seats. Or knocking itself in to the sides of bathroom stalls. Airplane bathrooms? egads!!!

I'm a little miffed right now because my husband was going to hold the target mitts so I had something to practice punching on... he's engrossed in a video game with one of his buddies online. I am a PS3 widow. :toetap05:

Being punched at...or playing PS3 online?...Mhmmmmmm

I dont know what he was thinking ;)

Hehehe... I know if I asked that question between me and his Mustang, it would be a tough call. I refer to that car as his Mistress. But to be fair, I am grateful he isn't a complete sports nut and I don't have to contend with football, baseball, basketball, hockey, challenge of the gladiators... etc. There's NASCAR, but we're both hooked on that. Mebbe because its TOM and I have had a hellish week, feeling kinda needy I was more sensitive too it.

you look great!!

Thank you!

I did! Thank you! I hope you did too. That's a heck of a drive.

So up to 162 from 159... thanks to PMS. ARGH!

I managed to behave myself a bit on Thanksgiving. Didn't deny myself any of the goodies... just minimized the portions. The food was great, but I somehow managed to not eat way too much like in the past.

I was originally thinking of hitting the track this morning, but instead opted to do the entire Body By Belly Dance DVD and then one of my yoga DVDs. That was a good 1 1/2 hours of workout. I was pretty well worn out afterwards. Felt great though. Belly dance is good for cramps.

Just finished watching Enter The Dragon... I forgot how awesome that movie was!

That 3 lbs will all drop off so no worries there.
Enter the Dragon.. Nice....
Word's you never want to hear from the Lee:
You have offended my family and you have offended the Shaolin Temple
(That means your about to get your ass schooled to you)...
LOL, that was a great movie...

Well, day 2 of TOM... I feel bloated and gross. And while I was able to behave myself on Thanksgiving, my treacherous hormones decided they wanted to turn me into a ravenous beast yesterday. HOPEFULLY I was able to keep the damage to a minimum by NOT caving in to the ice cream in the freezer, and sticking with healthier snacks. Only 'blow it' yesterday was the belgian waffle I had with breakfast. Well, only slightly more than half... but I still had it.

Picked up a couple exercise DVDs at the used record/movie store. One on Budokon, and another on Qigong. Budokon looks like a combination of martial arts, meditation and yoga, Qigong looks like it is a moving meditation that would work well with Tai Chi. Both look like they would fit well in that whole 'mind body spirit' thing.

Little stiff & sore from yesterday's workout. Ah well, I'm gonna go put on the walking shoes and do a quick walk, then perhaps some more yoga to stretch out the stiffness. Then heading to SF for the car show.

Aw, man... Monday already. Back to the grind in the a.m. :ack2:

Here I got all nice and relaxed during these 4 days. That's the hardest thing about having time off... having to go back.

Especially considering the 'fuck it' state of mind I was in when I left on Wednesday. On one hand I am glad I have the type of relationship I do with my immediate 'boss' because I can tell him what's on my mind without fearing disciplinary action for insubordination, on the other hand if I found another opportunity and left with little to no notice, he'd be the one that suffered the most. Ah well, keeps me from acting rash and burning bridges. Much as I'd like to sometimes. :reddevil:

So today, did another of my belly dance workout DVDs that kicks my ass, then popped in the DVD on Qigong. Awesome! Its a moving meditation. I think once the dust settles on my job situation, I am going to sign up for the Qigong & Tai Chi classes that are offered back to back.

Later today I popped in the Budokon DVD, just to watch part of it and see what its all about. Holy CRAP! I've got my work cut out for me if I want to achieve that type of strength, flexibility and balance. Why didn't I get in to this type of thing when I was younger?

Something I've noticed... even though I still enjoy doing the belly dance isolations, layering, etc. my interest has been a lot more geared towards martial arts and yoga lately. However, the three do work together well in my fitness regime. Part of that has to be that it is working towards fitness, but it has another purpose as well.

So last night I was in San Francisco with my husband, a couple of his co-workers and their wives. Went to the new car show they hold at the Moscone Center at this time every year. Funny, all those new cars, and the most impressive thing I saw all night was the 1937 Delahaye up in the specialty car exhibit. Concept cars used to be so cool, but now they are a freaking joke. Chrysler had this... thing... there that looked like it was out of the movie 'Tron', and it had me thinking that Harley Earl must be spinning in his grave at 7000 RPM! There were other lovely old cars there, but it was sad how most of the new cars just weren't that impressive. No wonder the auto industry is in the shitter. The ONE U.S.A. car that I saw that wasn't too bad as a get around type of car had to be the Chevy Cobalt. Too bad its front wheel drive. I had also gone a bit gaga over the Nissan Altima Coupe. That's a sexy machine. Again, too bad its front wheel drive. Now, if we're talking absolute lust for a new car, or one that is in the works... I'd have to say I've got it bad for the 2010 Camaro. Gawd that's a sexy beast!

Anyway, the reason we even went to this was my husband is a tech for one of the Infiniti dealerships in the bay area, and they had supplied some of the cars for the show. He and his coworkers needed to get the cars re-activated and driveable, then we needed to drive the cars back to the dealership. I drove the M45... let me tell ya... that was no hardship! Far as 'reasonably' priced luxury sedans go... I'd definitely drive one of these if that is what I wanted as a daily driver. It had serious balls in the acceleration department, handled like a dream, REAR WHEEL DRIVE, smooth, quiet inside the cabin but you could sill hear the hum of the motor. I enjoyed a few very Zen-like moments on my drive back from SF.

That is, until this Jackass in an old late 80s Camaro (they should have never been built) was zigzagging through traffic, got up on my ass in the fast lane. So I moved over to let him pass then got back in the fast lane. Big mistake. Jackass's Camaro started smoking and suddenly my windshield was COVERED in oil! On top of that... the fog had rolled in, thus cutting my visibility to virtually nil. My husband was behind me in a G37, even he got a lot of oil on the windshield. Jackass kept going, blissfully unaware that his car was going to explode at any moment. I was doing my damndest to get away from that car because I knew it was going to blow up at any moment. Next thing I know, Jackass is starting to veer over into the right hand lanes... looking like he was going to get in front of me... again! Fuck that! I punched it, Jackass got in the lane behind me this time. Last I saw of Jackass was him pulling that sorry piece of shit on to the side of the road, thus leaving yet more garbage on the freeway.

I find out after we all got back to the dealership that said Jackass had been screwing with pretty much everybody in the caravan. I wish one of us had managed to get his license plate # to find out who he was & send him the bill for having all those cars detailed. What a shithead.

Oh well, off to lala land. I have my martial arts class to look forward to tomorrow night. Gotta love Jeet Kune Do!

If I could count the number of times I've said something like that... Like cycling, or kayaking. I'd love to learn to roll my kayak, but at 43 with my weight and lack of flexibilty... I'm working on both now but, who knows if I'll ever get there.

I dunno, guess its a matter of personal opinion? I was never a huge fan of the Camaros for some reason, no matter what year. Now the new Dodge Challenger from a looks perspective has me pitching a tent.

BTW, the CEO of my company is a guy who never spends an unnecessary dime anywhere. Even in this downturn he is sitting in good shape company wise, despite being an automotive supplier, because he owns everything... he absolutely refuses to take out loans for his business ever, so his overhead is nice and low.

Anyway... He has been driving a '95 Aerostar he named freckles because of the rust spots. The other day he shows up in a 2009 Shelby GT500 ragtop, with the 605hp Shelby Supersnake option package. Nobody knew what to say, but there were puddles of drool all around it! He was going to go for the 725 hp option, until he found out it wouldn't be covered under warranty.

There's always yoga!

I must be channeling Val this morning. :smilielol5:

They had a couple Challengers there too. Yeah, that's a really sexy beast as well.

Nice score on the CEO's part... Shelby... :drool5: My husband has a 2007 GT500 that I refer to as his Mistress. I love the new Mustangs too.

Good day. :)

I drove the G37 a few weeks back. That's a fun car. I miss my Z every now and again but I'm still loving my truck. Later on in life I'd love to get a muscle car but I'm not handy so I'm not sure if it would be wise.

This looks very interesting! I'd be down to try them :)

LOL! I feel the same way, why wasn't my mom making me do Yoga with her when I was younger??? ;) I feel ya, I sort of have been missing my 2 days a week of kickboxing instead of one day and one day of belly dancing. Anyway, you have a GREAT and well rounded regime--and trust me, heavy duty Yoga WILL sculpt you like you wouldn't believe!

If you're talking classic muscle car... its either good to know how to work on them or have deep pockets. Still, a lot easier to work on those pre 1975 cars... no smog crap on them to get in the way. No computers either.

I did notice the definition in my arms is getting better. I'm working up to it.

Yup, I agree. Every Sunday my wife and I take a class, and I try to adopt the stretches into the rest of the weeks when I work out.

Smart man! I do a lot of yoga stretching before my martial arts class. It definitely helps in the class and afterwards.

The hamstrings and glutes are getting a lot more flexible now. I can feel the stretch back there when I do the standing forward bend. I was able to grab my foot in the instep and stretch it out over my head while standing on one leg tonight! Haven't been able to do that in AGES.

Thing that sucks right now is I am feeling the twinges of a cold in the back of my throat and lungs. My husband's been down with one for the past couple days, missed work today, probably miss work tomorrow. So I'm just taking my Airborne and hoping. I was feeling pretty craptastic for part of today, but I don't know if its because I'm fighting off being sick, or if I'm just reacting to being at a job I'm really pissed off at.
