Hello! I just joined today. Starting my new diet/lifestyle change on Nov. 1st. two days from now. Wanted to join a forum this time for support and motivation to help me. I live in Phoenix, AZ. I am 50 years old. 6 foot and I think 275 lbs. I will post my starting weight on sunday. I have lost some weight before, but always went back to my bad habits. Eating junk food and drinking beer. Beer is my main problem. I really need to stop the beer!

I bought a bicycle and a treadmill. So I am excited to get started. Going to plan my meals ahead of time and put in containers so they are there. No more excuses saying I do not have time to make something. Thank you for having me here. I look forward to your help and motivation to get me going. Thank You.

Welcome to the WLF! Looks like you have a solid plan and you're starting the same day we have a 30-day on plan challenge starting, you are welcome to join us, link to the challenge thread in my signature below.

Hi. Thank you for your reply. I will post daily in my diary of what I do. I do not want to count calories to start. Last time I did that I was only consuming about 700 a day, and was told that was bad. Starting off I am just going to concentrate on eating healthy and avoiding the bad foods. Start walking on my treadmill and riding my bike.

I see you live in far west Alaska, would that be Nome? I use to live in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Dillingham and worked a summer at St. Petersburg processing salmon and crab.

Tomorrow I start my new journey! I will post in my diary everyday. It would be great if some of you can write encouraging words to help me. I went shopping today for my healthy foods, and will do more tomorrow. Thanks everybody.

Hi Everybody. Today I started my journey for a better me. I officially weigh 278 pounds. I will weigh myself every week. It would be great if I can get one or two people to be with me on my journey, instead of just me writing to myself on here. Thank you.

Hey ReptileBoy! Keep posting and people will pop in to say hi. I'm with you on the beer, I think I'm constantly on a mission to drink less but it's a tough thing to give up. Best of luck on the beginning of your journey!

Hi ReptileBoy & welcome to the forum. At the moment there is a lot of activity in the diary section of the forum & it takes a lot of time to get around all of the diaries. There are many here who would be reading your diary, but not saying anything, perhaps because they too, may ne new. We are all here to support one another & you have come across & very friendly & supportive group of people.
It sounds like you are ready to make permanent changes to your diet & lifestyle & that augers well for you.
Have you checked out beers that are lower in calories? I think beers that are labelled low-carb are usually lower in calories. Planning your meals so that you're not tempted by fast food is a good idea. I wish you all the best. Know that you are getting support, even if you can't see it. Cheers, Cate

Thank you for your comment. Beer is really hard to give up, but I must do it. I may have one here and there. But just one. Thanks.

Hi Cate! I was hoping to hear from you as you seem to be well known. Thank you for commenting on my post. I appreciate your support.

ReptileBoy- you are very welcome to my support! :) I seem to have been a bit slack lately. I think mostly it's because I have been using my phone via Tapatalk, instead of my laptop, so have only been seeing threads I have posted in before. I'm well & truly back to "normal" now. Go team WLF! Cheers, Cate.

Hi Everybody. Yesterday was day 1 on my new lifestyle change. I think I did ok. For breakfast I had a bowl of grape nuts cereal with skim milk. Lunch was a protein shake with spinach, kale, banana and raspberries. And one scoop of protein powder. For dinner I had a grilled chicken breast with broccoli and cauliflower. I walked one mile on my treadmill, which was hard lol. Did over 10,000 steps which says 5.98 miles. Thanks.

Yay!! Great start.......I always use a pedometer to check on how many steps I did as well, it's a great way to hold yourself accountable and track your progress! ;-)

Wishing you the very best on your weight loss journey!

Hi Everybody! Sorry I have not been writing in my diary everyday. I started a second job. Working 64 hours a week, so no days off. I am still doing good on my diet. No junk food, but have not been eating like I should. Some days I only eat once a day. I need to start a routine. I weighed myself. Lost 8 pounds my first week. Happy about that. I walk in my jobs too so been doing over 10,000 steps everyday. Thanks!

3 days since I posted. No replies. No comments. No support. No motivation. No "good job". Nothing. Feel depressed now. Oh well. I guess everybody is busy. I understand.

My other post was my first post after one week on my diet. My first results post. I did lose 8 pounds. But I feel bad that nobody replied to it. I feel I would get support is all. Just feel bad now that nobody cared enough to reply. I did come here for support. Hope you all do good.
