Phate's Journal

wow! I hunted for that... hahhaha

Anyhow, it is a mentallity. You will be concience of it for may 5-10 hours of running and then you will have it. with a bit of a forward lean included, you will soon be BETTER, FASTER, and STRONGER!

it is very impressive how much you have been running. I read a bit of your journal. and the eating and lifting, and shoot man-- yer a great one!

Thanks FF, means a lot coming from you. Though a 3 mile run 3-5x a week is nothing to what your doing.

I am looking forward to start swimming, weather is starting to get pretty hot and maybe tommorow i will try and complete my first "mile swim" in my backyard pool.

I calculated it and i'd have to go back and forth approximately 98 times for 1 mile, not sure its accurate or not. i'll measure again tomorrow. I thought it would be more like 200 laps.

hahahaha, what a looney tune... just go to Greenhill Lane, just off Imperial, in Yorba linda, and go up the hill, and slip into their pool. there is an olympic length right up there. But it is not heated.

if you do it in yer backyard one- no pushing off.

First time I went swimming since last summer, one thing i realized is that running endurance does not translate to swimming endurance.

Only did around 1/4th a mile, will work my way up to 1 mile swim.

Came back from a 4-4.5 K. Wasn't planning on going out for a run, but i really needed to go out and just do some steady state cardio under the moon light while listening to some music. I've had a ****ty friday, family issues, etc etc. Felt pretty crappy and depressed and just needed to go out and RELIEVE my mind

gonna turn my shower into a sauna now..

Good morning, my friend. Checking in on ya.

I sincerely sorry you had a bad Friday. Care to talk about it, or would you rather keep this to yourself?

I am up early to train and then get to work.

I may or may not have time during the day to post to your log dependent on whether I'm Chillen in busten my @ss or just a Chillen in everything "rocken on" smooothly as planned. I hate when life "busts my @ass" I have to pick up the pieces, and sometimes picking up the pieces is the difficult part, but man when they go back together with correct attitude and thought, I dont see the "crack in the @ss" any more..........(hint)

You be tough, Phate......Or I will be a "chillen" on you like glue.

EDIT:

Educate yourself when your down and don’t feel like doing it! READ THIS TWICE!! Or, I bust that young @ss! :D

Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that ought to be learned; and however early a man's training begins, it is probably the last lesson that he learns thoroughly.

Thomas H. Huxley (1825 - 1895)

Ugh. Well haven't lifted since last thursday.

Played some intense b-ball at the courts yesterday, and was actually planning to lift today since i missed my monday workout. But ended up being peer-pressured into going out to playing basketball again with some friends. Since tomorrow i got out early, will make sure to do a high volume fbw just to get back into it.

Why? What is internally and externally going on with you?

Missing a weight training workout, for this type of activity, is fine. Dont sweat it. This sort of activity you are supposed to be doing.

Its missing workouts, when planned, and you have time, but continually blow it off, that concerns me about you.

Best wishes

I agree with Chillen - no reason to feel guilty about skipping weights for basketball. And you weren't peer pressured into knocking off a liquor store so there's no harm.

hey, if yer shins feel a bit sore tomorrow it will be frm the short start and stops in B-ball.

I truly believe a game is a FANTASTIC thing to play in place o a workout, any time. You press your body harder when you have other playerws, the ball, and the court to pay attention to.

and if you rob a liquor store I'll spit on you!

I wish I was running with a girl!

But no, i was running with a friend, who has some track competition at the school he works. Kinda like a Teachers vs kids marathon, and he wanted to get his endurance up because he sucked last time and 12 year old kids beat him.

i haven't timed myself in a while, will time myself next week. After my shin problems i haven't been trying to break my times, i just jogged at a steady pace.

Been concentrating more on my running form, but i'm still feeling it a little bit in my right shins. I don't start feeling it until the last 1.5 miles when the streets are mostly down hill, and even when trying to land lightly on heel and roll forward it still slaps a bit.

The best runners land on their mid foot while they run. Maybe your shin problem could be due to the fact that you are constantly pulling your toe up to your knee in an effort to get heel toe action. Your anterior tibialis might be getting a real smashing.

What sort of shoes do you wear? Heavy pronation can cause shin issues as well.
