personal trainer career

hi folks, I'm new to this site and hopefully you can give me some good advise.
I have been recently laid off from work twice in the past year and frankly I
do not like the feeling of being jobless. I decided to persue the personal training career path and be my own boss and decide my own destiny. I have
been training(working out) for the past 13 years and feel I have a fairly good
knowledge on how to train. I have trained many of my friends as word got around that I'm a good partner to train with and noticed all of them with great results. So now I decided to get paid for what I love to do. What I'm asking here is 1. how to become a good PT, 2. how does one aquire clients, 3. how much do I charge or how does the whole charging work? does the gym get a portion?? Basically the fundamentals of being a PT. Also, can one make a decent living being a PT? I'm scheduled to take my certification exam by AAFA next month. Any info on this will be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Cesar

i know @ 24 hour fitness you actually work through them, and only them.. they give you a certain amount for each hour spent training..

Cesar, i'd suggest you contact ppl on this board like jpfitness, hufftraining and ptdirect. look in the memberlist and shoot them a pm.

i'd bet they can help you with exactly what you need to know :)

Ya and I know at 24 hour fitness they will hire you on without certification. You make more if you are but I think they will help you with getting it
