PEOPLE EATING 5 to 6 meals a day!!

I have heard alot people talking about eating five to six meals a day, this seems really unhealthy because your body can only produce insulin twice a day, will eating 5 or 6 meals a day give u bad health effects in the long run such as diabetes.

"think about your meal plan and how much food you usually eat at each meal or snack. If you will be grazing all day, try dividing your total food for the day into snack-size meals. Then you can eat 5 or 6 smaller meals without overeating"

I found this on the American Diabetes Association Website.

That settles that huh? lol... I'd like to see the article that says your body can only produce insulin twice a day..

furthermore i found this

"Each time we eat, insulin is released into the bloodstream. This vital hormone, secreted by special cells in the pancreas, encourages our tissues - our muscles in particular - to gobble up the glucose surging through the bloodstream after we eat a meal"

Not only is it not unhealthy, it is precisely how you should be eating to keep your bodyfat and cholesterol low. Insulin is released in proportion to how the amount of sugar consumed, so if you want to reduce the amount of insulin that you release, then cut back on simple carbohydrates. I highly recommend you read this post written by Men's Health editor, Adam Campbell regarding a diet that he has written with Dr Volek (co-author of Testosterone Advantage Program). He explains very clearly some basic nutritional guidelines.

Simple answer - No...I've been eating 6 - 7 meals a day (7 on school days, 6 on weekends and holidays - i sleep in on holidays) but anyway, i've never had any health related problem. Someone's probably already said this but i think the reason it's better is it helps your digestion system because if you eat every 2 - 3 hours it is constantly working and is forced to be more efficient. 5 - 7 meals a day is ideal for weight gain and weight loss.

Your still eating the same amount of food a day, your just dividing it up. it puts less stress on your guts and you dont get energy highs and lows cos your blood sugar stays more constant.

so... eating 6 meals a day is much better for you than 3times.

on a personal note, since I started eating 5-7 times a day (2years ago) I found that my bowel movements are much more regular and quick to finish (sounds gross and im sorry, but I used to be there for a good 20mins, nows its just drop and go)
also I gound that I never get stomach pains when i eat standing up (i have to sometimes)

Please cite a source. By your logic, even eating 3 square meals a day would be 'dangerous'.

Furthermore, 5,000 years ago, many humans were still hunter/gatherers' and ate many times a day to keep energy up. Hell, even many african/south american native tribes are still hunter/gatherer's. and they don't suffer from rampant diabetes like the US population does.

I smell bull****

check out The Warrior Diet by Orri Hoffmeckler he's a big fan of one meal a day and i gotta tell you, i've never been leaner, stronger, and my body has never run so efficiently

if your hungry, then eat enough to get rid of the hunger and so on, you'll probably find your are consuming 5 to 6 meals a day, as for the insulin issue i've personally never heard such a claim

assuming i wake up at 830-9 ill eat a couple eggs for breakfast at around 1130-12 then some protein after working whenever that is, something like a piece of chicken, , munch on veggies through out the day, then at 7-730 ill eat dinner. its usually a glass of water, then salad, then TONS of protein then tons of carbs then some milk then water and if i get hunry after that ill eat more protein and carbs.

Eating 1 meal a day!!!!! NO WAY!!!

The amount you'd have to eat would strech your stomach so much that you'd be hungry within an hour!

can't argue with the results it got me cannav

absolutely ripped, could function with more energy after on 6 hrs of sleep than anyone i knew could, full of zest for life, strong as hell, sharply focused mind
