Overtraining my abs?

I do my ab workout every morning after I wake up on the days I have the workout planned for.

My ab workout length is 20-25 minutes, and I do it 6 times a week. The 7th (day I rest my abs) is Saturday.

Am I overworking my abs? The only reason I didn't lower my workout amount down to fit my strength training workout plan is because I heard the abs can go longer before hitting the "overworking it" threshold.

Iwillgetripped. Your probably trying to shed your stomach fat. Its a common misconception that you need a ton of ab work to lose belly fat. Thats not true. You need to fix your diet, do weight training, and cardio depending on how much you need to lose.

To answer your question. Yes your overworking your abs. Just train them 3-4 times a week MAX. Train them like any other muscle group. That means if your getting up to 25 reps per set you've gone to far. Add resistance.

What he said.

Plus if your trying to shift fat away from your middle cardio is the answer unfortunately, not crunches etc.

Plus just to reiterate, 3 times a week. Also work your obliques and lower back plus glutes at the same time or face possible serious problems from imbalance.

Wasn't really doing the workouts to shed fat, just did extra due to thinking they were able to not be overtrained as easily.

Thanks for the tips.
