A coworker's teenage daughter has been training for quite a while. Just recently she thinks her chest is shrinking - swim suit shopping. Has she toned her pecks to much? I keep getting the mental picture of women bodybuilders and how flat they are.
Unfortunately, breasts are mostly fat tissue, so when you decrease your body fat %, you dip into the fat tissue in your breasts as well. Just a drawback of a low body fat %.
Just wanted to add that to get the look of a female bodybuilder is NOT possible with general strength training, cardio and fitness. When women lose fat most will lose SOME of their breast size because as Kea said... the breast is mostly made of fat.
But to get down to a flat chest? Well you'd have to be a female bodybuilder for one or you'd have to be so skinny and barely have breasts to start with.
"Over toning" is nothing more than a very low body fat % and a decent-to-high amount of muscle mass. Very very very very hard for women to attain. Hope the picutre in your mind isn't deterring you from strength training
When I start diet plan I defenitly loose some from berasts but it is insignificant amount. As Kea said breast are mostly "made" from fat, but I agree with Lyn that gaining female bodubuilding body is very difficult.
Female bodybuilders take some supplements that suppress their female hormones and this is the only way to achive as lower body fat as female bodybuilders. It is gene that women are with higher body fat %.
