Hullo, I like to do things "OTHERLY". That is, for instance, to take a different route on my way home, to write a blog, when I should be working, or to work when I should be sleeping, or to write two diaries instead of one.
I studied literature, but I never really studied English. Excuse my French then, please, If I use some inappropriate words or syntax.
I am frustrated when I cannot express myself as clearly as in my native tongue, but I was frustrated even more, when I woke up at 2AM every night for a fridge raid.
I was 112kg 10 days ago, November 7th, 2017. I want to remember the date, as a day, when I started my (475th) ultimate attempt to lose some weight and get a life energy.
I do not eat at night, anymore, I eat 3-5 times a day, and I started to move a little as well.
In other words, I am ready to apply all the information about healthy life style I learned so far.
And I am adding one more ingredient, which I missed in my previous 474 attempts - a proper attention. That's why I am starting my second diary already (one is in this forum and one elsewhere). Both are little different, and both are supposed to help me stay focused on my goal - being under 88kg on the day of my birthday this year. So if I do not write one post a day at least, you can be sure I lost my focus, and I am having a burger in a fast food restaurant.
As it is described in the story of two wolves. One is bad, one is good. Which one will wind in the end?
The one you feed the most!
(With a salad of course!) :)

Hey Otherly and welcome to the forum! Please feed the good wolf some nice steak occasionally or I won't blame him for running away. When's your birthday then? Best of luck reaching your goal,
LaMa

Hi LaMa, I was born November 1st, so there is enough time to lose the weight, but enough time to gain it back again :)
I think I learned a lot about well balanced diet, but I was never able to keep it after some partial success (max three months I guess). That's why I want to keep my diary = attention for a longer period now. My latest hypothesis is that a success of any change is in proper attention to it.
I had an Irish rib-eye steak for dinner last week btw, but my wolf says THANK YOU anyway!

:D Sounds like you know what you're doing and plan to do it the healthy way. Very glad to hear it!

Exactly. This time it is a little different. When I tried for the first time, twelve years ago, I learned everything about nutrition, glycemic index etc. But the specialist I visited had a little knowledge about psychology.

Since then I read few books about emotional eating and the power of habits. But again, it is not enough just to know-how.

This time I have (two) diaries. Even if I fail, I will at least learn why (as I am not able to trace the moment of "the end" in my last 474 attempts).

I would love to say boldly: but I will not fail this time. But you know what Woody Allen said:

If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans

The two most important things about losing weight are:
- getting up one more time than you fall down.
- being kind to yourself. We can´t hate ourselves into a version of ourselves we can love.

You can do this.

Thank you! From this point of view:
- I am just getting up one more time
- I love myself for about 7 years already :)

I went to play floorball on Monday with my old team, after 4 years break! In case you don't know, floorball is a kind of ice-hockey, played in a gym (without the ice of course).

My main goal was not to hurt myself. I just wanted to walk there for a while, but I was dragged into the match immediately, running back and forth, but most often to the bench.

We played for two hours, and I couldn't score a single goal for nearly an hour. With the exception of one silly own goal.

Then I finally broke the curse, and scored four goals, slowly regaining my reputation of a lazy sniper.

I was expecting red carpet at home and five minute match-of-the-day interview provided by my wife. But I feel women are usually not very much interested in performance of their men in insignificant friendly matches. :)

Am I right?

My main goal was not to hurt myself.

Haha, can relate to that! Every time I exercise I just pray for no clumsy accidents!

And no, you're not right! Some women are very interested in their men's sporting achievements, even if it's just a friendly match!

There is a limit to how much you can listen to. My lovely husband used to go on and on about his golf game & I mostly had no idea what he was talking about. Since I took up playing it's much better. There is still a limit, though. Well done on getting back into floorball. Go you! :D

I noticed that floorball is getting more popular in Australia, but you would never guess that I play cricket in Czech Republic! :)

I am thinking of my motivation. I definitely do not want to feel like a Japanese pearl hunter every time I dive to my shoes to tie the laces...

:D Sounds like motivation alright - and like something you can achieve in a few weeks. Short-term goals rule.

This a long-term goal - the problem is my belly. But you are right - the short-term goal could be either to tie the laces more quickly, or to hold my breath "under water" for a longer period.

I remember a client (~ 1,60 m, 30 y/o, 140 kg) who literally couldn't reach her feet - let alone tie her laces. She needed exactly ten days to get there. Without losing a gram. So my hopes are high for you :)

1,76 m, 47 y/o, 109 kg - at the moment. I can reach my feet, I can tie my laces, I can even score four goals in a floorball match, half century in a cricket or two under par in a disc golf...
All I say is I do not want to feel like a Japanese mermaid, losing the access to oxygen, anytime I need to reach the ground :)
