Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post here. Like all of you, I'm planning on documenting my weight loss journey. I thought I'd start out by giving you guys a short intro. :)

I'm female, 20 years old, and a full-time college student. I'm 5'7" and 150 lbs, which isn't medically overweight, but I have a high body fat percentage and literally *no* muscle (seriously... I can barely chest press 30 pounds).

One of my biggest downfalls is probably that I LOVE to cook... French, Italian, Asian food, you name it. I am always making incredible meals (and desserts, and pastries!) for myself and my family, and we always have leftovers stored in the fridge which I snack on throughout the day.

Now that I'm back in the dorms, I won't be around all that food all the time, and won't have access to a kitchen, so I figure that it's a perfect time for me to try to lose weight! College food isn't exactly as tempting as the stuff that I make myself. :p

Anyways, my short-term goal is to lose 2 lbs by next saturday (10 days from now), and my long-term goal is to lose 20 lbs overall (I set these goals for the sole purpose of quantifying it; what really matters is that I'm healthier and feel more comfortable!).

I'm also looking for a weight loss buddy to talk to on yahoo or AIM; PM me if you're interested. :)

Hey welcome to the forum!
I love to cook too but you can use it to your advantage! By looking up healthy recipes you'll know exactly whats going into your food so you can keep an eye on things.
And your setting realistic goals which I'm sure you will reach :D
Good Luck!

Thanks for the support Kirsty!

Usually I'm always disappointed in healthy food and just try to maintain my weight through portion control, but recently I've been getting into asian cooking and a lot of their authentic recipes are very healthy and delicious!

Today was a pretty good day.

I had an egg and some fruit for breakfast, a turkey wrap for lunch, and some chicken and veggies for dinner. I almost gagged on the veggies. They were raw from the salad bar since I'm living at school and I'm pretty sure the cooked veggies in the cafeteria are slathered in butter and salt.

Sometimes I think that the reason "healthy food" makes you lose weight is that it's so gross that it completely kills your appetite. I'm reminded of this every time I try to diet. At least it works. XD

I definitely need to drink more water tonight... maybe some tea? I heard that tea speeds up your metabolism. I know I should drink more; I just don't like having to go to the bathroom 500 times per day. :p

This evening I went to the gym to work out. I ran on the treadmill for about 30 minutes. My knees KILLED afterwards! I think I'm going to do the elliptical tomorrow instead.

There was this gorgeous, thin, blonde girl on the treadmill next to me, running super fast and making it look effortless... It was kind of embarrassing for me to be next to someone like that (makes me look even more out of shape by comparison) but at the same time it motivated me to keep going. I kept thinking, "someday, I could be THAT" (minus the blonde hair of course).

Anyways, I hope everyone else had a good day. :)
