One Pickle @ a Time - my journey

Good Luck with your neck. I hope all is well and it is a minor issue that can be resolved. I don't think what you ate was so bad....your doing fine.

Thanks all. I don't think what I ate was bad - just a control thing. Eating when the belly is hungry not the head.

Hopefully tomorrow, they can do something magical and fix my neck/migraines. OY!

I wish you the best of luck at the doctors. We want a cure and we want one now!! :p
Have a great day tomorrow.

I went in for my weekly appointment with my bariactrics doctor. My cholesterol is down 30 pts!!!!!!!!! My blood sugar is down 20!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is so exciting after about 5 weeks of this program. I only lost a few pounds but I cheated a bit during this past week ... during the middle of last week I thought that my migraine was due to TOO many pickles and lack of chocolate <grin>

My uric acid level was high - but they told me to just get more water. So I will drink about 10-11 8oz a day.

On to my migraine and neck troubles. The 'family practice' side of this clinic couldn't get me into see someone. I was very upset and might have gotten a bit cranky. So I provided them my two pages of notes on things that I experienced over the weekend. They said they would have the doctor a nurse call me.

Heck with that. I called a chiropractic office. I told the receptionist, she was very king - she had me speak with a doctor. I told him - he told me he wanted to see me. So I am going in tomorrow morning.

I can't wait for this pain to be over with!!!!!

Good for you Epi, sometimes you just have to put your foot down to get things done. Hopefully you are on the road now to getting some relief from this pain that you are living with.

Good luck for tomorrow morning.

Okay had the chiropractor appointment. It was a long appointment! So I'm out of wack from my head down to my tail. I'll do the heat roller therapy, then adjustments/alignments, then a massage, then ice therpy after. Three times a week for the next 2-3 weeks.

Today, he was able to get my left side of my neck to adjust (OUCH! CRACK!) but my right side I felt like it only adjusted a little bit the OUCH and the CRACK wasn't quite as noticeable.

Tried some areas of my back but it wasn't having any of it. He said that was okay, we'd try until we get it all back to normal!! WHATEVER THAT IS! I can't wait.

So I believe that I feel better. If anything my right side hurts more now because I don't think we got it to adjust quite right. And I have a bit of a twitch in my right cheek now lol - I think a nerve or something got irritated.

I go back on Thursday. Then because of holiday schedule not again until next thurday. Then m-w-f for two weeks.

He said that magnesium is good for migraines. That there have been studies that show it can be very helpful. He said the problem most ppl run into is that we take calcium with magnesium to help the body absorb the calcium. Which means that we are not absorbing much of the magnesium. He suggested I stop with calcium for awhile and take magnesium with malic acid right before bed. I thought that was interesting.

I'm hoping to get through the day with nominal pain and I will take a walk tonight!!

Breakfast: Protein Bar |130 cal| |15pro|

Water: 5 - 8oz glasses

Lunch: 1/2c egg beaters |70 cal| |12pro|

That sounds very positive, Epi, and it sounds like you've had some good advice. It is nice to come back from an appointment with real progress, rather than a lot of wishy-washy don't knows.;)

Just wanted to check in. Glad to hear you're doing alittle better and you have a plan from the doc to hopefully make you well. :)

Still looks like your doing great as always on your eating. I haven't tried the eggbeaters but I'm going to the store today to get some, I might even walk since its only a mile :D

Have a great day!

Oh I slipped last night with chinese. I went to the store, it had a chinese deli. I picked up some fish and some carbsmart yogurt. Then the smell of chinese hit me. Weakness.

The good news is that I would have in the past eaten pretty much the whole container. I only ate about half of it last night and then tossed it out. So - it was a big cheat but I exercised some control during the consumption process. lol

I did get in 14-8oz yesterday of water. My neck is so doing much better. I am more productive at work. I feel a bit like me again with some energy and desire to do something!

I planned a walk last night - I didn't do it. I still have to get myself more motivated in this summer heat to do some exercising.

Today:

Breakfast: carbsmart yogurt |80cal| |12 pro|

Snack: 2c popcorn |40cal| |8c|

Lunch: Shake, swiss stick |70cal| |9pro|

Snack: 2c popcorn |40cal| |8c|

Cheat: 3 pieces of a brownie |100cal| |15c|

I know exactly where you're coming from with the exercise, see the name :p
I usually just pop in a video and stay in the house or I would never do it. Its great you held back on eating the whole container! You stick to your diet more days than you cheat so I wouldn't worry much.
Keep up the good work. Thanks for stopping by my diary so much, keeps me on the ball. :D

That's fab Epi, my big problem is cleaning plates, and to not throw in the towel and think 'I might aswell eat the whole thing as I am being bad' takes commitment, especially if the food is there infront of you.

Keep up the good work ;)

Okay, so my bf and I travelled for the holiday. He got us the 'romance' suite at the hotel we are staying at ... heart shape big tub, ahh champagne with chocolate strawberries ...

So yep - I cheated and had two chocolate dipped strawberries. But this morning, we ordered room service breakfast and they made me an omlette with egg beaters! That's excellent service!

Today we are going to the travelling Titanic exhibit. I can't wait. Then off to a winery this afternoon followed by dinner and a movie. Tomorrow we travel again, and will see a MLB game followed by fireworks.

I imagine that my weight will be maintained with perhaps a slight gain but definitely not a loss. Too much temptation.

Today:

Large egg beater omlete with cheese and ham: |300?cal| |55 pro|
2 stripes of thick bacon

I'm back! So much to read - you all post too much! lol

Nothing much to tell. I ate horribly. Didn't really exercise. So back to basics and back on the wagon.

I started today off by drinking 3 liters of water to try to flush out the ickiness lol.

Welcome back Epi! You may have had a few extra treats this weekend, but you enjoyed yourself which is the main thing. Also, you were obviously thinking about what you were eating, because you asked for egg beaters .... that is a really important key, not eating mindlessly.

Keep up the great work ;)

Went to the chiropractor today, my neck and back were so tense they weren't able to adjust anything today  Probably part of the tension was related to not having gone since last Thursday due to holiday. Hopefully next week, with three times, we can get me back to one piece

Drank 3 liters of water so far today, probably get another 16-24 oz in before bed.

Epi the vacation sounds wonderful. Kinda makes me want to take one. I've never actually had eggbeaters before are they just egg whites or something else all together. Anyway the omlet sounded delicious.

If you like eggs .. you will LOVE egg beaters. They taste just like regular eggs - infact I think they taste better. They are convenient and they come in cartons - NO MORE EGG SHELL lol - and they come in different flavors ... ham & cheese, chives, vegetable, etc ... Best part they have very little calories, no fat and no cholesterol.
