One arm buffer than the other?

Hello. My problem is that my right arm is buffer than the other, and it is very noticable when i flex both my arms. Not necesarily from weight training, because I don't weight train much. Does anybody else have this problem? Thanks.

i also have this problem. it is likely just due to variation within your genetic makeup. i dont really worry about it too much, since the difference is so subtle, i would guess that im the only one who notices it...

muscles imbalances are the #1 cause for back problems, so it is a good idea to worry about it. i once noticed my biceps were a little off, and only did dumbell exercises for them. and always did left, right, left, right. that was as soon as my left couldnt do it, i wouldnt do any more with my right..

percieved size difference can be caused by a number of things. not necessarily a strength imbalance. besides, i would think that imbalances between muscle groups, (ie lower back and abs) would be much more of a danger.

I recommend doing more mass building exercises for them i.e. barball curls, and also work on your triceps more since that is it muscle that most of your arm is made of.

As bad as it sounds...my guess is that right arm is bigger because of masturbation...it makes perfect sense. Unless its a huge difference.

start each set with your smaller arm, and try to give it an extra rep or two at the end. bodybuilders are judged on symmetry, so they find ways of minimizing the differences on each side.

um... wouldnt that work out your wrist more than any thing. plus most people use their right hands more for stuff such as writing, carrying things with handles on it, etc (any other basic everyday activity that you use your right hand for)

That's funny. But not the case, I'm sure. Without giving graphic descriptions, I will only say that I am left handed, but my right side was always bigger. It has alot to do with dominance.

If you want to fix it, the best way i've ever heard of was using dumbells of the same weight as mreik was leading to. That way both arms have to push the same weight for the same number of reps. Over time this will correct the size/strength issue.

I'd say it has to do mainly with dominance, being right or left handed. Using dumbbells would make sense, and maybe a little more work for the lagging arm.

Re: masturbation, switch hands..

naw, one hand on the mouse, the other hand on...well...lets just say I learned how to use my left hand for certain tasks. :p

Your dominant arm (usually right) will be stronger because you use it more, so the communication between the muscles and the brain is better - giving the arm more control and 'confidence'. Therefore you'll find it takes up a lot of the slack for the left arm in the gym - its a vicious circle you have to break.

So, use your left arm more in everyday life; become aware of using it to pick things up etc, rather than instinctively favouring the right. That way the nerve communication (or PROPRIOCEPTION), will improve and this will help the arm to give more in the gym.

Gyro balls are good for this too.

Always worth getting your spine checked by a chiropractor/osteopath, because if theres a minor problem there it can effect the function of the arms.

As for wanking, each to your own.......
