Once a Fat Man......but NEVER again.

Brian, that's amazing. Not enough back slapping as far as I can see. You really did great. I think the only way I'm winning a trophy is if I'm the only one who shows up for the race. Even then it's a toss up as to me finishing. Really good job.

Does your scale have a BF% reading? I'm thinking about getting one of those, because that's really what I care more about. Weight going up or down is not a big thing as long as the % stays low.

Thanks Trops. I realy am pleased with myself. This kinda validates everything I have been doing. I was looking around at the start not thinking i belonged there. Then I finished in the top 10 and realized I do. Plus I have a goal for next year- 40 min. :D

My gym has a handheld on that 'reads' mine right now at 15% and some change. not too bad overall and I will start tracking it again.
The issue is that I know I am eating too much again and just need to get it under control again.
Ill be fine, and I am still not worried about the weight gain but do need to get a handle on my eating.

Hey Brian great to hear about your race and congrats on the trophy!! I really want to do a 5K. I've found a couple ones coming up, but I've yet to actually sign up for them. Sucks about gaining weight though. I've gained a bit too. I haven't got much time to workout and eating right and in the right portions has gotten really difficult lately. Oh well, we can't give up right?

Thank you! Never thought I would get a damn trophy, I ll be honest w you. :D

Sign up for it. Make the commitment and sign up. Once you pay the money you will follow through.

I have plenty off time- relatively speaking- to work out but have been eating way too much. Its ok though- this too shall pass. I refuse to give up- i have come way to far to eventhink about it.
:D

I am entirely too lazy to cut and past all the prior responses I want to respond to so I will just say my thing and be done with it :D

That is really exciting about the 10k - look how far you have come since january :) that is go great to hear.

Sounds like we are experiencing similar problems with our eating, it is just a matter of getting our respective heads out of our asses and getting back to the basics.

We can do this :)

Glad things are going well, doing any travelling lately?

Good stuff! Bet that felt great. Well apparently not this morning, lol... but you know what I mean!

Bah- lazy ass. :D

That is the big thing I keep remembering. How far I have come in a realtively short amount of time. But it also showed me how far I need to go.

Oh, I know. It sucks getting back to basics but it is oh so necessary. Cant undo all I have done here.

We can do this :)
Oh course we can. We have come to far to stay where we are and not press forward in some way.

Baltimore next week.
New project. Dont wanna go!!! but have no choice.

Hey Brian, how much did you weigh when you started running? I want to run but I feel like it's still too much pressure on my knees. Just curious.

It felt really good that my formerly fat ass could place in any sort of race. The last thing i expected was a trophy or something unless they gave them out to anyone.
Sore as hell today but dont care. :D

So you say...I see it as being efficient :D

That is a good thing though - you don't want to become complacent - not that you would but seeing that you aren't where you want to be can be a good thing.

I would have to come out to Plano and beat you if you tried ;)

True dat, true dat. I am not staying here and neither are you.
We will get there. :)

Not if you want to keep collecting a paycheck :D
Surely there is something interesting to do while you are there?

See, this is what happens when you are the last post on a page. Gets looked over!! :D

I started really running at about 250 or so. mind you- i overdid it and was hurt several times- knee, ankle and groin. I also did not stretch so it is hard to tell if it was me or the lack of stretching that did it.

take it slow and dont do it for long periods of time. Stretch after. If you play Bball then there should be no reason you cant do a slow jog for 20 min or so and not hurt your knees.

I hear ya, I just find that the wood floor on bball cushions me a lot more than concrete. I think around 250 is where I will start as well. I can't wait to run!

If you have a High School track, that is even softer. They are actually spongy. You might try that on a weekend, just to see how it goes.

That sucks. The ones by me are that spongy recycled rubber. Very nice to run on, but you have to go when the school isn't using it.

Not the one near us.... its pavement.

Asphalt is better than concrete- more springy.
Most of my running is on a gravel path- you have anything nearby? Forest preserve etc?

Treadmills are good too- but sometimes people have issues running on those. I am not one of those people but I know quite a few that do.

Hope you are able to start soon.
