Once a Fat Man......but NEVER again.

ok.

So i have not posted in here in a while-

Life is good. I need to learn how to get a handle on my eating on the weekends. I need to learn the difference between full and satisfied. This is becoming an issue and will the one single issue that keeps me from my weight goal. That being said- I do not care about a weight goal anymore. I want to look good naked. That is it. I do not care if this occurs at 195 or 210 I just want it to happen.
Fitness is very important to me right now. My pregnant wife is very important to me right now. Avoiding injury is very important to me right now. Forging new friendships is very important to me right now. I have changed my life, is it really that important what the 'final' number is?
I broke a fitness plateau yesterday. I ran for 90 minutes. First time over an hour. 10 miles. So about 9 min per mile. I am very happy with this. 10 miles is great as far as i am concerned and the time is not bad either. plus i got over the hour plateau. I am still in a lighter wt mode for another week or so. i like it.
Eating is healthy but work is a bitch. I am sooo busy right now even this is keeping me from things. I am happy we are busy but hate the amount of time this little thing called work takes out of my life. Bah- what are you going to do.

Hopefully i will be around a bit this week, but no guarantees.
Still at 215 but not worried about it at all. All is well inn my life. Doctors appt for my wife on Thursday to check on things.:D

Thank you for reading my Drivel. :D

Hey stranger!! :)

I totally understand the work thing - I have been reduced to lurking for the most part...I have a trial (not mine thank god) coming up and I have to help my boss prep for it. It is a huge case with millions of dollars in play, the sort of thing that will break me if I mess it up...

So. That being said, this isn't about me, it's about you :D

I am glad that everything seems to be falling into place for you. You have come so far in such a short time and the change in your outlook and perspective are nothing short of amazing to see. I am so happy for you Brian, I really am. New friendships are good; sometimes a life change like this requires something new to take into the future with you.

ok.
Since it appears this is the only place I post anymore I really need to keep this up. I am really only good for 1 or 2 posts a day and want to keep them here.
So- yesterday was a good workout. My legs were still sore from the 10mi run Tuesday but I loosened up and all was good. Did some light deads, DB bench, lunges & DB rows. All in the 3x8 range except the DB bench that was 3x12. Then arc trainer cardio for 40 min. Good workout in general. The problem is that I am at an impasse again. I really do not think it is possible for me to lose weight and run as much as I want to. I think it falls under the same category as gaining muscle and being in a caloric deficit. Especially at my weight and where I am BMI wise- I know it is imperfect but if anything it is a low indicator- it is difficult.
To run effectively you need to eat well. In my opinion that is not conducive to being in a caloric deficit. I either need to eat a maintains and build up my running or keep my running at 3-5 miles a crack and be able to be in a deficit. I feel I am going to choose the latter since right now I still would like to drop another 10 lbs. I can keep myself where I am endurance wise and build in a couple months.
I sat all this because I ate a relative ton of food yesterday. I attribute this to the 10mi on Tuesday. I was hungry form the time i woke up til the time i went to sleep. These are the conclusions I cam to last night. So that is what I shall do.

Doctor appointment today! :D Get to hear the heartbeat again! Get to hear about progress again. Christ I cant believe Erin is 4 months along right now.....

Oh, and BTW.
What is the deal with Shoulder shrugs?
It seem every beefed up idiot in my gym is doing them all of aa sudden.
I dont know if they get a charge out of loading up a bar with 405lbs or what have you. Guys are doing 5 sets of what I see as a pretty limited exercise.

Something I am missing. Was there a recent write up in some muscle mag about the amazing strength gains that can be made from shrugging 3 times a week?

Haha, I think thats just an easy lift for any guy to pull some weight. Even a guy who just watches TV all day could shrug like 200+ I bet, haha. The way I see it, 90% of the guys in the gym are in a pissing contest. I'd rather do low weight, keep correct form, and work the muscles I want to.

Ahhh boys... always have to be the best. (I'm talking in generalities here about meatheads haha)

Hello BigGuy, I was just reading through your diary. You've come a long way and congrats on that! Oh and congrats to you and your wife for your expecting bundle of joy! I am relatively new here, but I enjoy reading the different diary's and making new friends! You're running is a great inspiration! I am currently pre-training for a 1/2 marathon... its slow going but I'll get there eventually!

Just wanted to say hello!

Cheers,
MissD

Pissing contests i can handle. I have won a few in my day :D
but it is just freakin irritating because they use up the only squat rack in the gym for this shit.
grab the 110 DB to do this shit as far as i am concerned

I have never done shrugs so maybe i am missing the best shoulder exercise in the world.....

Hi!
I always like new people that can piut of with my drivel. :D
Thank you for the congrats regarding my wife and i- it was a long time coming but all seems to be going very well.
The running i do is the best thing i have gotten out of losing weight. It is great when you realize that you really truly enjoy something. That is what I have found in running.
When are you looking to do the 1/2 marathon?
How is your runnning going now?

Glad to hear your wife is doing well, you must be so excited!

I have always wanted to be a runner, I just didn't have the determination until now... and I have realized that its harder than I thought. My body is slowly adjusting, but its getting easier with each run. I don't plan to register for the marathon until next year. I am currently pre-training. I hope to do either a 5 k or 10 k in October. Right now its slow going, I've been doing 2 miles, running 80% of them. I hope to break the 3 mile mark this weekend.. so we will see how that goes. I am just trying to convince my body that it wants to run at this point, but I am patient... I know I am stronger with each run and I feel great too!

ok
I have come to the conclusion that i need to get a real handle on my eating.
I all of a sudden suck at potion sizes and binge eating again. I am maintaining my weight but only through the exercise i am doing. I am kind of pissed that I have this issue again. I know damn well I will never be completely over this- I love food too much- but I thought I had a handle on it.

I need to stop this shit and stop it now.

Ran 5 miles yesterday in 39:42. I looked at my watch after 2 miles and saw I was under a 8 min pace and decided to just continue it. I did not really expect it to end up like it did after 5 mies but it did. Ever since I began stretching i feel so good after a run. If anyone reads this shit and can take anything away from it- Stretch after working out. It is the best damn thing and is so important.
Erin is fine, pregnancy is going good. She is 16 weeks. We have a level 2 ultrasound in a month or so due to the fact that she conceived from artificial insemination rather than natural. That is when we should find out the sex. :D
All in all life is decent. Work sucks but that is what is is- I am trapped in invoice hell today. Too many numbers. But hey- it needs to be done.

Thank for reading. :D

Oh we are excited. I cant even put it into words. :D

If there is one piece of advise I can give you it is the stretch. I hurt my groin earlier this year and could not run- since I started stretching I have not gotten hurt.
Dont try to increase milage too quickly either. Just my $.02. :D

Doesnt it feel great to get stronger and have more endurance? I love the feeling of being able to do things that I was never able to do. The 10 mile run tuesday hurt like hell but was one of the more satisfying things I have done in recent memory.

I just wanted to stick my head in and say hi...I'm in trial hell right now and riding on just enough sleep to be considered a nap in most parts of the world...

:)

Hey, Brian! Just stopping by to leave ya some love and say I'm glad all is working out for you and Erin. I still want to know if it is blue or pink, k? ;)
