On the pursuit of happiness... <3

Hey - your food looks good.
And so true: "If you want to see the results, you gotta do the work!"
For me exercise makes ALL the difference :)

Hey Katie!

Thanks for the encouragement on my journal. Looks like you are doing great yourself! Good luck tonight at the bowling alley. Just keep your goal in mind and go a little crazy while bowling to help yourself burn some extra calories!!! ;)

mmm Pizza! one of my favs too . Good luck avoiding temptation but remember if you slip up a wee bit its not the end of the world :)

Hey there! Your food looks absolutely fantastic!! One way I avoid temptation is by studying everything healthy I've done for myself that day. I ask if the temptation is worth it...Usually this works, haha but of course there are times when it doesn't!

Hope you get to have some fun at the party, pizza or not!

Good luck at bowling tonight!

To cook a spaghetti squash, you can just chuck in the oven for an hour or so. I think you can also boil it, but I've never done that.

Thanks for all the encouragement and tips! It really helps keep me motivated to stay on track <3

Today's Weigh In: 219 :(

Back up to to 219 waaah. Sucks because I thought I was pretty good at the staff party. Yes, I had pizza but I limited myself to one slice. I also had one chicken wing- another weakeness. I ate them slowly and made it last. Could've been the drinks that did me in. Just a waste of calories! But I have a really tough time going out and not drinking when everybody else is. Anyways I had lot of fun! My boyfriend came out and it was nice because he's never really met alot of people I work with and we all had a great time! This weekend I don't have anything planned that will really involve drinking or eating tempting unhealthy foods so i'm going to be really good and see if I can get back on track!

Yesterday's Food:
1. Smoothie made with mixed greens, 1/2 banana, straw/blueberries, 1 scoop greens+ and H20, two scrambled omega 3 eggs with dill pepper and homemade salsa, the usual :)
2. mixed green salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, peppers, and 1 tbsp organic garlic balsamic dressing and one lean cuisine ravioli microwave meal
3. 1 piece of pizza (I think it was bacon and pineapple? Not to sure what else) and one honey garlic wing

Yesterday's exercise:
35 mins on elliptical trainer

Tonight I'm off to the movies with my boyfriend to see the wizard of oz in 3D :D and were bringing lots of healthy snacks so we won't be tempted by yummy but horrifically high cal movie snacks!

Today's Weigh In: 221 :(

Pretty disappointing honestly. I was expecting a small loss, definitely not a two pound gain. Now i'm back in the twenties again. Oh well, nothing else to do but keep going, work harder and be more diligent with my eating plan.

Yesterday's Food:

1. 2 slices of bread, 10 grams low fat chz, 2 omega three eggs, small glass of orange juice, ketchup
2. small serving of homemade harvest soup my friend at work brought for me from home, one popcorn shrimp dipped in sweet thai chili sauce
3. salad with one tbsp organic garlic balsamic dressing, lean cuisine lasagna
4. sliced veggies with a little low cal probiotic yogurt ranch dip, pinapple and watermelon chunks, and shared a 100g bag of quacker crispy minis with my bf at movies
5. quesadilla - one high fibre low carb tortilla, 35 grams low fat chz, chicken breast slices, olives, green onion, and salsa

It sucks because everyone was hung over from the staff party and eating greasy fried food and junk (which I also craved) but I thought I did pretty good with my food choices. Apparently not good enough :p

Don't get discouraged!! Start drinking a lot of water to help flush your system and keep chugging along!

I agree with Munch. We are drinking 3L of water/day in the challenge right now...WOW what a difference that has made! Hope you have a great weekend :)

I have a 24 oz water bottle i keep around and probably drink 2-3 per day. Maybe ill join in on the water challenge and see if that helps :)

Hey nice job having healthy snacks for the movie - kudos to you!!
& your food choices are definitely good compared to greasy food (after the staff party)
Well done!

Have a good weekend!

Hey there! I saw some foods you mentioned before that sounded so yummy and I just had to tell you. Homemade hash browns, mmmm. And I've been trying to think of how I might incorporate canned salmon into my lunches, and adding tzatziki sauce sounds great! Thanks for being so descriptive :) And good luck on the weight loss!!

Munch - Thanks for stopping by and the check in! I need to get my ass back on the board it really keeps me on track.

Laura - Thanks for visiting my journal! I find that the tzatziki sauce is a great substitute for any white sauce- mayo, ranch etc. Just make sure u check the nutrition info some have a lot more calories than others! I find keeping a thorough record of my food helps me see where I'm doing well and where I can improve. And if it gives other people good ideas, awesome! I've definitely picked up some great ideas on this forum.

Okay so as my lack of presence here may have indicated, I fell off the bandwagon this weekend! Offences include mexican food, wings, and (urgh!) McDonalds. I really need to NOT cheat on weekends. It's much easier for me to stick to my healthy routine during the week. But BOO to taking the easy way out!

I've been getting back on track for the week though. And I've finally gotten back to weightlifting whoot whoooot! I had some solid sessions at the gym. And my water consumption has been improving. Today I've been writing it down just to make sure I'm hitting my 3 litres. I'm about 3/4 of the way there :D

I've decided I'm going to start weighing myself only once a week. I've been getting too caught up on daily gains and losses and I think it will help to not weigh in so often.

Friday is weigh day! Had some pretty poor choices on the weekend so we'll see what happens. But regardless, I'm determined to change my lifestyle. No matter how many speed-bumps I hit I will not get give up, and I know I'll get there eventually! :beating:
