I agree that a year without gain is a victory - especially for people inclined towards obesity (not to mention morbid obesity).

I know that my hubby would not be doing what he does to try to lose weight if it were not for my involvement. He definitely does what he does to try to keep me happy. His natural attitude is to enjoy his food and believe that all will be fine.

I would love to think that he would step things up a bit and do enough to lose weight - but I am not holding my breath for it to happen.

I dont blame you for giving yourself a bit of a rest this week. We all have times when we want to treat ourselves a little.

Cerella and Kim

Thanks for saying such lovely things about my photos. I still have a long way to go - but I have brought myself to a place where the ultimate goal seems more achieveable.

Take care

That is very sad and outrageous about your friend needing the operation. I am thankful that even though my parents' insurance isn't spectacular, at least it does pay for most of the things they need, and doesn't refuse them for being fat. It could, however, refuse them for other things such as pre-existing conditions. That is probably the biggest problem with insurance in the States. For example, say you are diagnosed with a medical problem. Then lose your job, and hence your insurance. When you get a new job with different insurance, there is a high liklihood that the new insurance won't cover it b/c you had the problem before getting on the new health plan. That is why I think it's silly to have our health insurance tied in with our employers. Some people would like to change jobs, but can't because of a health condition.

I still say the Aussie system is by far the best I've ever seen. Go the Aussies! :biggrinjester:

But the simple fact of the matter is this. Lots of people who are at the size that you started out at don't ever make it to where you are. So kudos to you for making it that far and deciding that you WON'T give up until you reach the end.
*By the way my hubby is absolutely impressed by you. I do believe that you are inspiring him. He started out weighing 335 and is now down 25 pounds.*

Yay for your man! I could tell the other day at bball that he has lost quite a bit. :)

Hi Janice

Yes - pre-PCOS I did not really have a weight problem in the way that suddenly happened.

I will get round to posting a new photo soon. Here are some ones from my youth to be going on with.

Awe, you were a cutie then too! My mom sported the same 'do in the 80's!

It certainly sounds like both systems are seriously flawed in the way that they currently operate. I am sure that the Australian system will be best. I believe that they have a better state pension and benefits system than here.

The stupid thing is that the NHS used to be very good. When I was young we were told that it was the envy of the world - and it probably was. Now it is little more than a farce. I know quite a lot of people that have taken out additional private insurance - so they effectively pay twice because everyone pays into the NHS. The problem with it is of course that it is quite expensive.

Thanks. Your Mom and I were clearly keen to follow fashion in our youth.

Hey Margaret! it is difficult to show pictures to anyone especially when you don't feel happy with them. i have the same problem. i can't remember the last time i took a picture. i really admire everyone who puts them up to the public view because i know i wouldn't be able to even show my family and friends never mind the whole world!!!

you have done such an amazing job though. i hope you feel confident enough to put them up when you reach your goal because a lot of people would be inspired by your work! its a shame about the people who say bad things but they wil always be around whatever we do and we can't please everyone!

hope you are having a good weekend.

Thanks for stopping by Margaret! I am alive and well, and have been thinking of all of you guys, too!

But, my husband passing his classes had to be more important than me getting online, unfortunately. (I told him a few nights ago that if I miss out on a funn BB challenge because of his research papers that I would be very upset!)

Oh no! I really want you to be in on this next one-it starts on Friday.

Margaret--How much does the private insurance cost in the UK?

I want in. Since Donald starts his new job monday, training evenings, I can be on then and log my points. I told him that when I was not sure if you had started a new one right after the other one ended (and I would have already missed the sign ups.)

 I'm excited. This is gonna be a great challenge--lots of good teams.

Thanks for visiting. I hope that everyone is having a good weekend. Mine is pretty much going as I expected.

Some people (including people on the forum = e.g. Dawn, Tammy) seem so comfortable in front of the camera and always seem to be photogenic - even on their bigger pictures. I have never been like that - and doubt that I ever will be. I am certainly a lot less comfortable than I was in my youth - and I wasnt really too comfortable then. When I was very big I tried to avoid the camera at all costs.

There are always people who will say nasty things in this life - and it is always hurtful when they do.

Amber

I am pleased that all is ok for you and that the only problem is computer time. I get quite a bit of that problem too because when hubby wants the computer I dont get a turn either. I often leave a window open so that I can dive in if he leaves the computer for a minute. I often think that people must see the green light and think that I am there and just doing something very odd. Re the challenge - I put a note in your own diary because I wanted to make sure that you got it while you were on for a short time.

Kimberly

I couldnt say how much private health insurance costs currently - all that I know is that we couldnt afford it.

I looked into getting some about eight years ago and initial quotes based on age would have been ok but when I went into it they wanted to know our weight, weight history and health history. The rates went through the roof and the list of exclusions was rediculous. It wasnt cost effective. Since then - I am not earning and I used to earn roughly the same as hubby then, and hubby is only earning a third of what he was then. Our joint income is therefore about a sixth of what it was! No-one who earns what hubby earns that I know pays privately, and the people that we do know that pay earn roughly similar to what we did back then or more and they are more normal sized.

I would have to work to be able to pay it - and I cannot help but feel that this would be counterproductive at the minute.

This probably sounds twee because everyone else works full time while losing weight. Some would say that if they can manage it - so should I.

You have to remember that my weight loss peer group is actually Amber and Natalie Jo. They too are PCOS ladies that have become big. Amber has just said in her diary that she has worked hard and done well to lose the equivalent of 3 pounds a month over a long term period under her current system. She is so right - 3 pounds a month is a brilliant weight loss for a PCOS lady. Many is the rigid campaign that I have stuck to and got less than that! She exercises and works very hard. It is demoralising when "normal" people can loose weight so much quicker.

Based off that I have managed to achieve the weight loss of a successful 4 year campaign in a single year. It has certainly been worth me doing it in this manner. I am not going to consider working until I have got down to goal and managed to master maintenance which will be difficult for me.

I will review the situation then.

Take care
Love

Absolutely on schedule TOM came – magically turning day 29 into day 1 as it does so often for me.
Went to Tescos to get the shopping.
Bad - by the time we got there they had sold out of breaded plaice - but hubby said that if I fancied it I should have breaded lemon sole which is more expensive - which I did - nice hubby!
Good - honey shreddies were on special offer until Monday - £1 a box instead of £1.95. I now have enough for the next 6 weeks!

Breaded lemon sole, tin of baked beans

EDIT
It is quite possible that sitting eating honey shreddies after midnight was not my wisest dietary move of all time. Sunday weight just in = 11st 4.0lbs i.e. up to 158 pounds!

LOL! Been there, done that. No worries, dear. You'll walk it off today, no doubt. :D I'm sure your weight gain today is due more to :reddevil: than your late night shreddie snack. :)

:hurray: to shreddies being on sale. My cereal-Fiber One--was on sale last week, and I bought 2 or 3 boxes. That is how I shop, when it's on sale, I stock up. I rarely pay full price for anything.

In Australia, people can also buy private insurance. They are encouraging the upper and middle classes to do so to take the burden off the NHS. But private insurance there was quite affordable. H only pays about $300AUD per year for his. I think that's incredibly affordable, as we would pay nearly double that per MONTH here in the U.S.

I don't blame you one bit for taking time off work to lose weight if you can afford it. MsGhettoBooty is doing the same, and she isn't a PCOS girl. I certainly am not working full time, either. :D I find it hard enough to find time to exercise some days with my current schedule, so I really don't know how people who work full time and have children to take care of do it. Superhumans, I guess. :biggrinjester:

hey i think you are really photogenic aswell!!! you look really hapy in all your pics! i think it is just a personal thing hating our own pictures. most of us do it maybe because we know our bodies too well and see too much into the pictures.

i hope you weight goes down again soon. let TOM disappear and hopefully you will see the 10stone region!

i think i need to try honey shreddies. they seem to be rwally good for fiber aswell!its just a case of stop being lazy and draggin gmyself to the shops. lol
