You have a lovely, curvy, hourglass figure (which I am sure your hubby appreciates!). You look stunning in your red dress; very lovely indeed.

Keep up your great weight loss work! I am cheering you on from Canada.

Hiya Margaret!

had a look through your diary- and you've come really far on your journey. are you working on it together with your husband? From what I've been reading from others commenting on your diary, you are quite the motivator! here's hoping we'll be able to give each other a great push in the right direction

I look forward to reading up on your success!!
have a great weekend! :waving:

Thanks for all visiting my diary and continuing to give me all this support and encouragement. You cannot possibly imagine how much I appreciate it. I hope that you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Natalie Jo

Good girl. We have to get out and walk - whether we want to or not. I will be out starting my first Sunday walk within the next hour.

Keeping on top of the walking and college work is going to get you to where you want to be - I am positive of that. Before you know it you will have both the body you want and the career that you want. You know that you deserve it.

Well done for finding the book - you will bring extra maturity and experience into your next draft.

Good luck with Starbucks man. Spending time with an attractive man is always a good idea. However it works out - it is better than sitting at home watching the television. You never know where these things will lead.

Kimberly

This weeks bonus is certainly more comfortable for me. I always like to see a good plateful of food and since I dont like too much meat - I always like a good amount of vegetables. :) Now that I know what a cup is classed as (our cups in this house vary dramatically in size) - three cups are no problem to me. I happen to have a small mug that is the perfect size.

I have to say that in some ways the point structure and the fact that many of us are dropping points while clearly working hard is quite healthy and adds interest to the challenge. You are to be congratulated since you are responsible for the structure. I already feel embarrased as I honestly accumulate exercise points in the Valentine's day challenge.

Tammy

Dont be concerned about having a lovely bank holiday with lots of yummy food everywhere. Enjoy it. I certainly would (we dont have any Thanksgiving here). I certainly plan on enjoying Christmas when it comes. Any celebratory pounds that go on, come off as soon as you get back on track if you do so straight away. Most people say that they have lost them again a couple of days later.

It will be nice hearing what you have all done in your diaries though.

The big thing for you is to recover from your current illness - so I hope that you do go and see the doctor and get those antibiotics. Then you will be able to really enjoy it.

Janice

I am pleased that you like the photos. Since you ask - my hubby has always been very appreciative of my figure - it is something that he has always been very enthusiastic about.:hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray:
He appreciates the new me - but was very supportive and positive about the old me too. That's love I suppose!

Stacy

I am pleased that you like the photos too. You see how catching up to other people's "before" position is a major success for me.

It sounds like quite a few of us lost no weight this week.

You would have laughed - Tescos didnt have my favourite raisins in yesterday. I had to get some others!!!

You should be able to manage the 3 cups of veg. Do as I am going to do.
1/ Chop up some raw veg as something to nibble. Make a box of it in the fridge and get a cupful out as a snack. Put in it chopped raw carrot, celery, cucumber, tomato, peppers - that type of thing.
2/ With your main meal have some veg as per normal. I imagine you would often have 1 or 2 cups worth.
3/ Replace potatoes some days with mashed swede or swede and carrot.

I reckon that would bring most people up to their three cups worth.

If you cannot face the veg though - dont worry about it - it is just a game.

Thanks for visiting my diary. My husband is very supportive - but I would not say that we are working on the project together. He is still in the frame of mind that he would be willing to lose weight if there was a magic wand to be waved that would make it all happen with little or no effort. He does some things to keep me happy - but he is certainly not committed to the process. He often takes a walk because he knows that I really want him to. He then eats according to what he fancies - and this can be good or bad. He often does not fancy what I am having and cooks for himself. Last night he had half a breast of lamb roasted with baked beans!!!! Everyone has to decide for themselves when they want to tackle a big weight problem.

We all need to be very motivated to tackle this type of project. I really believe that with each other's support we can all get to goal and be the shape that we want to be. We all know the process - it is really just a question of sticking to it. So simple and also so hard.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Morning M!!!
Don't fret, I to didn't lose any weight this week, and I think I'm really putting on some more muscle definition, because the clothes are falling off again, so I know I'm losing inches once again, but NO POUNDS, which stinks during the Christmas challenge. LOL LOL Hey there is always this week right??

You know all we can do is our very best, and both you and I KNOW we do that every week. We bust our humps either at the gym, or walking as you do, and there is NOTHING else I could do at the gym except for live there to make it any better. I do it all, and most nights I work out for 2 straight hours of sweat and cardio. We are both doing our best and we know it, so keep your chin up high and keep busting those STEPS!!!! Maybe next weigh in you'll see double the weight loss instead, that's what I'm hoping for. :iagree:

It's a foggy day here so far, but it's still early. I hope your weather is good enough for a long walk. Take Care and good luck this week, I'll be rooting for the both of us!!
Kim

Hi Kim

We can do no more!

The weather here is rotten - dreary and wet. Cold too. But I have done 23,000 steps so far - and am off out in the rain again in a minute.

My husband says he is not coming out. One person's obsessive and eccentric is another person's focused and driven!!!

Take care
Love

My boyfriend is the exact same way! He is supportive, but not active in it with me. He'll take walks with me just to appease me, but he doesn't have the motivation.

I love that!!! So true!

Hi DaiseeAngel

Thanks for popping by. I will go and check out your diary in a minute.

Something has to come from within that says - I am going to deal with this now. Otherwise these projects seem always to be doomed to fail. In the past we tried to diet together - and together we failed. As soon as one said "I am eating this" we both failed and went back to square one.

I honestly think that we have to do this for ourselves. Much as we may be influenced by our men (and my husband and I have been married over 20 years - that is a lot of influence) we have to say "you can do that - but I am doing this".

Best wishes
Margaret

Hi Margaret,

Thanks for the kick in the bum in my diary. I DO need it. :)

Glad you like this week's bonus much better, and thanks for the kind words re my handling of the challenge. :)

I'm glad your husband is appreciative of your figure regardless of your weight. Now if he would see the light and join you in your "obsession." ;)

Hi Kimberly

I can nag for England - tallented that way. You will be nagged! It is too good an opportunity for you to drop the ball at this stage. If through considered opinion you decide against it - that is one thing. It is another completely to lose the option through red-tape while it could be so good.

My husband continues with his head in the sand regarding his weight and his body generally. He eats so much of the wrong stuff and will not be influenced my me. Yesterday - Sunday - he voted against the chicken that we had been about to roast and he demolished the second half of a roasted cold breast of lamb as sandwiches and then in his main meal had spinach and cheese cannelloni with 1020 calories written on the pack. On top of that he never left the house so his step count was minimal.

Whenever I mention this together with his 350 plus pound figure he tells me that he will live forever and he is happy as he is. He is 45 years old and his father died as he turned 47 from a heart attack through obesity. He has taken himself off simvastatin even though his skinny brother is even on it because of a family tendency to high cholesterol.

I worry so much about him - and how I could ever cope without him.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Plateau???!!!

I am beginning to wonder whether I may be on a plateau.

I had a nice steady decline working for me until I went to Newcastle after walking and weighing on Thursday 8th November.

From that date my weights have been:

07/11/2007 13st3.2 home
08/11/2007 13st2.8 home
09/11/2007 13st1.8 Ncle
10/11/2007 13st1.6 Ncle
11/11/2007 13st1.6 Ncle
12/11/2007 13st2.0 home
13/11/2007 13st1.6 home
14/11/2007 13st1.0 home
15/11/2007 13st1.6 home
16/11/2007 13st2.2 home
17/11/2007 13st1.6 home
18/11/2007 13st1.6 home
19/11/2007 13st1.6 home

I took my own scales away with me - but when I was in Newcastle they were obviously positioned differently. I did nothing special to deserve the high loss recorded on 9th or the gain recorded on the 12th. I actually believe that the different scale position flattered my weight by half to three quarters of a pound.

If that is the case - I was still getting a steady loss until the 14th.

Since then I have had a period - such as I ever get it - which can explain my weight on 15th, 16th and 17th and even 18th at a pinch. I am however getting quite twitchy as to why my weight is not going down today.

Part of me thinks that I should start treating it as a plateau situation....

I can see me starting to play about with my different routines tomorrow if this keeps up.

a plateau is generally longer than a couple of days of no change... when you're weight hasn't budged for at least a month or two -then you might have a plateau on your hands.. .what you're experience sounds quite normal, when your weight drops a little lower...

Thanks Mal for your reassurance. Things ground to a halt for a lot of September (searching the internet then for a solution was when I discovered this forum). Since then I have been very twitchy about the whole thing. I am getting thoroughly sick of being 13 stone 1.6 pounds.

Hi Margaret,

I agree with maleficent that it might be a bit soon to change what has been a winning game for you. You may find your weight sticks for a week or so and then suddenly drops - mine has done that just recently.

The longest I've been stuck at a particular weight is a month, and that was when I changed things (having found this site). I'd give it at least another week and see how it goes. Good luck!

Thanks for your reassurance too Avenue. I had really convinced myself that the scales should move by at least a tenth of a pound today. I am getting so sick of this weight.

Howdy Omega,
I am so sorry about your hubby having trouble making healthy chpoices,it comes somewhat easy for some and then very hard for others being myself lol, I lost my dad when I got preggers with my 1st child about 10 years ago he was 43 and over 400 lbs he actually died from kidney failure, liver no good along w/ a bunch of other things he basically drank him self to death do to depression,he would go to the place where you rake your alumin cans @ to get weighed in cuz no scales went above 320 @ the time and he refused to ever see a doctor.
ANYWAY I hope your hubby sees your sucess and how much happier you become and decide to make healthier choices and exersice with ya,what a better role modle than his wife.
Your doing such a gr8 job and the platuea will pass soon, just keep doing what your doing, have a gr8 day Tammy:waving:
