Alta & Angelica - I caved in and joined! :)

This week took FOREVER to go by! I'm so glad tomorrow is finally Friday. I've been working out but not very hard - mainly because I'm so tired from school. I Hopefully this week will be enough of a rest to kick myself into gear and work hard next week!

So I'm pretty pumped for this weekend. A cute boy is taking me out to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. YUMMM. I'm trying to figure out exactly what I can eat there. I don't want to look like some crazy girl who only orders a side salad. :) Can you guys cross your fingers for me that this boy isn't a total jerk? I kind of have a track record. I think I'm a really fun girl and I DESERVE to catch a decent guy.

OK. OFF TO DO SOME CARDIO! I want to hit 155 by next Tuesday! GET A MOVIN! :hurray:
 
When I was at convention last week and I knew I was gonna get some good food that I didnt want to pass up I tried my best to earn it in advance on the exercise bike. That way I didnt feel too bad about a small indulgance
 
OMG my FAV resteraunt ever, I have only been there twice but it was sooooo good!

Olux-I was a biomedical health science major with a minor in chemistry I loved organic chem the sig figs and crap are what killed me in regular chem but I had a GREAT o chem teacher. I am more a chemist by title/training then by schooling. I work in the pharmaceutical industry.

I cant believe you are aiming to hit >2lbs a week for the WHOLE challenge---go you!! You are rocking the house, did you enter the before and after picture contest? I did but we shall see how next week goes.

Olux-hey there gallie I am so jumping off of the toxic bandwagon are you there with me? Did you find some new dinner ideas, was that you, maybe not? I hope all is well on your side. I am back down to 155.0 today but shooting for 152 by monday, how about you?


Congrats on getting back to 152! I haven't lost anything this week! I keep going from 158 back down to 157. AGHH! So frustrating! I found a few new dinners but nothing amazing. ANY IDEAS? That would be greatly appreciated! OK I really need to go hop on the treadmill so I can work on losing the weight. HAHA. SEE YA!
 
hey luxie how are you?? Cheesecake factory!!!!! ummmmmmm there are so many things you can eat there.. they have all kinds of grilled chicken the lemon chicken is awesome.. I love cheesecake factory...there seared albacore is also awesome.. just depends what you feel like cuz cheesecake factory has a huge variety... cool chickee!!! I'm so glad your going on a date.. how fun?? who is he?/:cheers2: Good job on the workouts you definetely are doing awesome.. Yeah I did join the challenge.. Not to thrilled at my before but can't wait for the afters...

Yeah I did it!!!!!!!!!!!! I just saw yours I'm barely starting my goal so hopefully my afters will be amazing.. but you look amazing girl.. Oh shit.. I'm impressed.. You look so gorgeous.. good job lux... ur definetely doing amazing...:party: :party:
 
Olux-silly girl no way did I see 152 I keep staying above my previous week of 155 then see 155 then above, today is above I have NO idea!!!

this is my fav recipe website and there is a 'healthy' portion, give it a glance: Healthy Cooking - Allrecipes

the reason I like it is because it will show you and print off nutrition info plus you can enter what ingredients you have to work with in the idea section so I have a bag carrots and chicken enter chicken under healthy cooking and see what I get etc. Dont be afraid to search under regular headings too I use that mostly and there is plenty for dinner under normal heading that is healthy.
 
That boy better treat you nice...or Ill give him an imaginary butt kickin...I gotta look out for my little sisters on here.

Thanks so much! I'm going to try the site out! I'm always up for trying new things but sometimes it's a complete FAIL! I saw a recipe for pureed broccoli and onion soup. I tried it. UM, GROSS. I threw the whole thing away. It was such a waste because I could have just eaten the broccoli on its own. Oh well! :)

So this is slightly not PC but I'm pretty sure if I can't ask it here, I won't be able to ask it anywhere else. WHY CAN'T I GET A BOWEL MOVEMENT GOING? I haven't really lost any weight the past few days. My weight just keeps going from 157-158. ANDDD I feel like shit. Literally. I'm drinking lots of fluids and I don't think my fiber intake is low. At this point I'm less concerned about the weight and more worried that my body is broken. Anyone ever have this problem? :ack2:

PS OH this is kind of exciting. It's something that's very little but has made me SO PUMPPPED! When I'm standing or lying down in bed, MY HIP BONES PROTRUDE! Not a lot just yet but enough that I can kind of see it and DEFINITELY feel it! This is so great because at 185, I remember lying flat on my back in bed and I'd still have a pudgy stomach! Now it's gone. YEAHH!! ANDD the other thing I'm excited about is that my COLLAR BONE is starting to show! I can't wait until they're obviously showing like white on rice.

are you sure your getting enough fibre ? what sort of food have you been eating ? I take fibre capsules because i have difficulty getting enough fibre due to my alergies.

Maybe I'm not? I figured since I'm always eating fruits, vegetables, brown rice that it was enough. I'll ask my mom to get my fiber pills when I get a chance to come home from school. BLAHH! What brand of pills do you suggest? THANKS! :)
 
they may not be the answer for you but i take Metamucil. the amout of fibre i am getting through normal foods is tracked in calorie king just like my calories. eg. so far today i have had 6 grams so far out of the needed 35 grams from food.

WOW! I totally forgot that I could check that on fitday! I'm only averaging about 15.0 grams. So should I just try the pills then?
 
if you can do it through food it would be better but the caps might help you get past the imediate problem.
 
Olux-hey girlie I was having same problema while back, I did mega boosts of my fiber and I overdid it so just a word of caution that immediately increases can cause more bloating/gas however maybe that is the case when its from food (what I did) not the pills. I just read an article on fiber at gym last night and it was saying how much to shoot for and if you are at say 15 per day then increase up to 20-25 then continue up to avoid the rebound problems I have been having LOL.

ok on the pharmacy school thing I would HIGHLY recommend you to get in touch with some pharmacists, do a job shadow, talk to people, get a job at one whatever you can. I was originally going to school to be a physical therapist, luckily I did an internship/job shadow thing my second year and HATED it LOL!!!

I cant give you much experience on the actual job because I actually work at a pharmaceutical company where we make the drugs and have no affiliation with the sales/marketing/pharmacists etc. My particular job is dealing with some stuff that might interest you though. I work in cleaning validtion, we determine the safe dose/tox levels for people and maximum amoutnts carryover ie how clean the equipment ahs to be when making a new product so how much xanax can carry over into your prilosec LOL and still get no effect from teh xanax? It is all based on safe drug levels, GRAS lists etc. Its pretty dynamic and interesting but its definately not where I will end up, I am looking more at regulatory FDA type inspection stuff further down the road.

I will definitely try to up my fiber intake gradually for the next week or so. If it doesn't help then I'm going to get the pills when I come home from college in a few weeks. AH! Thanks for the input everyone.

Ivette - HEY HUN! I'm going out tonight. I will definitely let you know what I ate! I'm so excited to eat "real" food!

So the scale FINALLY dropped down today but I need to give it a day or two to see if it's just a fluctuation or an actual loss. Pray, pray, pray. Anyway! So I saw on Ange's journal that she had mini weight goals for certain specific dates in her life! I'm going to do one too to help me keep my loss in prospective! I think sometimes I just look at my big goal of 130 and I get a little frustrated that I'm still a long way away. This will totally help me break it down!

STARTING DATE: February 7, 2009
STARTING WEIGHT: 157.4 lbs.


DATE: February 14, 2009
EVENT: Valentine's Day!
GOAL: 154 lbs.

DATE: March 9, 2009

YAY! I can't wait to be at 141 because then my BMI won't be considered overweight anymore. Just a few more hard weeks! :party:

So my date is tonight! :) I need to get in my workout this morning and then do some laundry so I'll have something adorable to wear! I'm just so excited because I really do think I look pretty not bad. If this date doesn't go well, it's not because I'm ugly but because of some other factor. That really makes me happy because I know in the past, some guys would go out with me to just hit it but they thought I was ugly. NO MORE OF THAT! :)

And now for a quiet chat about bowel movements.... (boy that changes the subject dont it?) I had a little trouble with that when I started this program back in late Oct. Here is what worked for me. I just started eating a coffee cup of rasin bran with skim milk sweetened with spenda at about 8 oclock each night (about 200 calories) I will spare you descriptions but my problem was solved. I say try suble and natural dietary adjustments before you take some fiber pill. Oh and I gotta tell this one. Several years ago my Grandpa tried some of that Fiber One cereal...Well it tasted like cardboard so he put it out in his bird feeder...Well the birds wouldnt eat it either...then it rained and it turned into like concrete...He had to chisel it out of the bird feeder...I aint puttin any of that into my digestive system.
Okay we can stop whispering now...no more BM talk.
