Older, Wiser, but still fat...

The forum seemed to be quiet in general for the last few days, and then I wasn't posting much either.
Seems to be back now, though.

Glad you're feeling somewhat better.

That bike is one piece of fancy equipment. Nothing in my gym like that, that's for sure. Looks like it might be kinda fun.
And my bike at home just has a manual tension knob, and that's it.

hi cabby

i am here...been kinda absent...weight is suffering, i am up a few pounds and finally changed my ticker to reflect that. I have to be honest with myself or I am going to start gaining again. I am binge eating at night and it scares the shit out of me.

The Elusive last 22 has turned into more pounds. I am not giving up by no means and am spinning 3 days a week plus back on the treadmill or more the other 2. Just discouraged at myself for not being able to control my eating or drinking for that matter.

Well...hey now that I have told you all about me, hope all is well with you. I totally get the privacy thing.

Was a tremendous slug this weekend. Well, not not really, had plenty of yard work, home maintenance projects to keep me active. Saturday night we went and hung out with a couple going to Jamaica the same week as us. Hung out in the hot tub after getting Jamaican food at a local place. Seriously looking forward to this vacation!!

Did not eat too badly overall on the weekend. Stepped out by design a few times, but compensated as much as possible. Monday's weigh in is a wash from last week. That would be a win in my book given that the weekend in normally a big hurdle.

press
4x5 flat bench, 2x10 close grip bench, 2x10 cable pushdowns, Roman chair hyper extensions, captain's chair knee lifts, left, straight, right. External cable shoulder rotations.
Tendon was bothering me, seems to get a bit aggravated by squats. Did some leg presses instead
for today. Appt is in one week. Realy can't wait to find out what's up.

Cardio today, 50 minutes SS cycling. Weather's getting colder, not as enjoyable. Tendon bugging me some here too. I hate that I'm having to cheese out on work out time/intensity for this. The Erg didn't seem to bother it much the other day, so I'll have to kind of feel out what I can and can't do to get me through until a diagnosis is in.

Kare and Cord, good to see you. I haven't been the best buddy in here anyway, so I have no right to expect lots of return visitors onr anything. It just seems like this whole forum used to be more active in general.

i never had the traffic you had in my journal, but i think u may be right

i am around....just trying to work out this new business thing...argh

time for coffee

Work out:

lat pull downs, cable rows, DB hammer curls, planks, bridge ups. That's pretty much it for strength today.

Lungs feeling better, witnessed this by a reduced HR with an increased wattage on the bike., not quite back to full, but getting close. Did 20 minutes on the expresso bike, killed off another trail for my challenge.

Erg, only spent about 10 minutes on it, playing with resistance a bit. Wanted to do a full 20, but, since I had already done the cycling, my ankle/heel was giving me fits again.

I am so fucking frustrated right now. I can't wait until Monday so that I can at least get some kind of diagnosis. Right now it feels like it is getting progressively worse, in very minor increments. I still have good and bad days, but the bad days are beginning to outnumber the good ones. This is kicking my cardio levels down dramatically from where I was, even if I have the time. I could easily have been able to knock out 45 - 60 minutes worth today, but the ankle/heel pain cut my time down, and also reduced my intensity. I'm getting very concerned about what I'm going to end up doing if I end up needing either immobilization, or surgery. I'll need to come up with alternate forms of cardio that don't require the ankle. Not so easy - take out the lower body and suddenly the energy expenditure drops rather dramaticaly. I've used an upper body erg (hand cycle), and it is difficult to reach a pace that taxes my pulmonary system with quite the same intensity. Perhaps some swimming. Not sure. It's all just conjecture until next Monday anyway.

Cabbie,

Sorry to hear about the problems with ankles. It does sound serious though. Have you had it checked out yet? Sending u good energy from here. Monday is just a few days away. Good luck. What plans for the weekend...apart from biking (and swimming?).

Update on my S/O. For those of you who have been here with me since last June or longer...

My wife is now down over 75 lbs. She came out of the dressing room the other day from a clothing store near here with a new outfit on:drool5:I told her we needed to go home so I could help her out... of the new outfit...

Very strange, the ankle seems to be gatting better (which is good), without a lot of intervantion right now. The only things I've been doing to help it along have been minor, but perhaps positive. I'm keeping it stretched, whenever sitting for longer periods. In other words, sitting at my desk at work, I brace the foot against something so that the toe is pointing back towards me (insofar as it is able to be). The last few days I have been religiously taking Ibuprofen, which I'd prefere not to be doing, but it does serve an anti inflammatory function. Lastly, since I have arch problems, I decided to jury rig a little more support into my insoles. That has taken some of the pressure off of it.

I still have some pain, but it's more tolerable now, but there isn't a ton of strength there yet. I won't be doing any calf raises anytime soon. I'm happy to be feeling better on the exercise bike though at least.

Knocked off 2 more Expresso Trails today. There are 30 as part of the college trail challenge, I've killed off 18 so far, but the more difficult trails are coming up.

My splurging with off plan food last weekend ha snot done me any favors. It looks like the choices caught up with me with a little delay. I'm up a few lbs. I'm not going to adjust my ticker yet, some of that could be other factors such as sodium/glycogen storage etc. right now. I'm finally feeling like I can put some miels back into my cardio, and my eating will be 100% on track this weekend, so I'll update on Monday if there ends up being a net change that stays until then.

Hi cabbie, just popping in to say hello. thanks again for stopping in to my diary and 'way to go' for your wife! and You of course because you have BOTH been very successful. Michelle

True story.

Coming out of the college gym today after my workout. The girl at the desk stopped me before I left. Turns out she is a communications major. They send out a newsletter every month and she is part of the staff that writes/edits it. They are spotlighting members there. She wants to do an interview and spotlight article on me because of the changes I've made and the fact that I'm a dedicated user of the facilities. I was extremely flattered! If I can, I'll post or link it somehow once it goes to press.

Quick work out.
Seated leg press 3x10x250
decline press 3x5x175
incline (60°?) press 3x5x105
Back extensions, roman chair 2x15 holding 25lb plate
triceps pushdowns 3x8x150
3 sets planks

Finished 1 expresso trail, I'm in the advanced category now, so they are starting to kick my ass a bit. This one was 8 miles, but the "elevation profile" looked like an EKG... took me just over 30 minutes, about 15mph avg which is surprisingly accurate to what a similar ride would have resulted in if it was done on a real bicycle outdoors.

You go Karl!! Are we gonna see your picture on the paper? I hope so. IMO, no one deserves to be profiled more.

And awesome news on the wifey!! Pls congratulate her from our side. Is she on the forum?

Lovely chatting with you yesterday. You cheered me up. Thanks. Lets chat again soon, yes?

Have a great weekend!!!

Just dropped in to check up on ya, looks like you powering along :) and getting past the little speed bumps along the way

Hey Bronwyn! Are you still journalling? I haven't looked. Thanks fo rstopping by, I'll have to find yours.

Hey Karl,

thanks for popping in on my diary. I've just been reading through some of yours.. you've done really well so far and its very inspiring. Nice to hear your wife is doing well too. My hubby has lost a few pounds and got rid of his mono-ab which has been a nice spin off from my weight loss kick.

Those expresso trails sound fun, hope we get that machine down here one day...

Ana

it doesn't matter that its "just" a college news letter, I think it is so awesome that you are being recognized for all of your hard work, and that someone feels you may inspire someone else...its fabulous
