Older, Wiser, but still fat...

I built this kayak a few years ago, so this is my primary boat. I also sail, but not much power boating to speak of.

So, I quit smoking last summer and have not touched one since. Interesting thing though, the cravings still happen every now and again. It's like, this random thought will suddenly pop into my head and tell me I want one. I'm usually asking myself, where the hell did that come from?

im the same way... i quit a while ago and im usually fine since i go to work, go to the gym and go home. but this past weekend, i went out and drank my liver into oblivion and all i wanted was a cigarette... i didnt do it, but it made me realize how much alcohol triggers my cravings for cigarettes and sweets... :leaving:

I'm only an occasional drinker, (although when I do, drunkenness and debauchery are likely to set in :D), but coffee on th eother hand...

Every day I would wake up with a cup of coffee and a half dozen ciggies... I actually quit coffee too for the first week, but relized as I was ripping the heads off of coworkers, small children and animals around me that perhaps one addiction at a time was best to deal with and started drinking coffee again:biggrinjester:

oh i hear ya totally. i quit coffee too.... havent had a sip in almost two years. and i dont drink much either - havent drank in about 8 months, except for this past weekend... i forgot how much sugar is in alcohol. it seriously triggers my sweet tooth. and it makes me full, which triggers a smoke craving.

i found lack of coffee really helps... but that was basically impossible for me to quit, so i would never tell anyone to do that. :p

Bwahahahaha! I completely agree with ya there :) Have only had like 2 glasses of wine and a martini in the last three weeks, so I'm pretty proud of myself :)
I like the idea of applying the no smoking thing to food... great idea.

Food accountability for today. Calories 2667, 105g fat, 312g carbs, 129g protein.

Quick where I'm at post:

Push (monday/Thursday)
Flat bench 1x5@155, 1x5@175, 1x5@195, 1x5@205
Assisted dips 3x5@ 220lbs (net after assist)
Decline press 3x5@175
BB military press 2x10@80
Flys (either) 3x5@220 machine based (or) 3x5 @ 35 DB flat bench (or) 2x10@60 cable flys.
Triceps pushdowns 3x5@either 100 or 150 (depends on which gym, one has more mechanical advantage)

Pull (Tuesday/Saturday)
Chest supported rows, wide grip 3x5@210 (or) narrow grip 3x5@230 depending on gym.
Standing expanded grip BB rows, 3x5@90lbs
Lat pulldowns 3x5@210
DB front raises, 2x10@15lbs
Reverse (delt) flys 2x10@120 on machine
lateral rotations with cables 2x12@20lbs

Core
2x20 lower back hyper extensions - Roman Chair
2x40 crunches on bench or ball sometimes I decrease reps adn use the ball with a medicine ball or holding 12lb DBs across chest. Likewise I'll grab a plate and do back extensions on the roman chair with lower reps.
Oblique crunches on bench 2x20

When any of these routines looks monotonous to me I'll randomly switch in a similar (or even the same) exercise using less weight with higher reps, or do an alternate, like switching in planks instead of crunches, or bridges instead of hyper extensions.

I took a break from legs because of cycling, but I'm likely to bring them back in once a week and will post accordingly.

I'm really PROUD of you Karl! :hug2:

You have set your goals, yer working at them, and you're havin' a great comeback!

Keep Pushin' Forward and Reach those Goals! :seeya:

Raining today. Don't care what anyone says about "fair weather" cyclists etc. Bicycling in the rain pretty much sucks.

Stayed indoors at the gym and did alternate cardio today. Walked for 22 minutes around the track - 1.4 miles ~ 3.8 mph pace.

Used the Upper body Erg (stationary hand cycle) for 20 minutes.

Did squats, DB step ups and some core for 20 minutes.

All in all not a bad work out for something different.

Your workouts are amazing Karl, wish I could get fired up on exercise.

You are doing so well!!! :D Have a Hap Hap Happpy Day!

:seeya:

Nice job, your workouts seem intense to me but good for you.

I'm crazy and love riding in the rain. I think it comes from being a little kid and jumping in puddles all the time.

Thank you Kori and PEC !

Ate okay, not great but okay. My self imposed 3200 calorie cap on an exercise day is very near... 3167 calories, 147g fat :ack2: 326g carbs, 150g protein.

I'm at work and the hungry horrors are setting in - it's all psychological too. I had a late dinner. Realistically at this point I should not be eating until after midnight (I track from midnight to midnight and I'm a night shifter).

Anyway, I've dealt with worse, I'll just go find some trouble to get into...

Morning reluctant, hope you are well.

Just checking out your diary and wanted to wish you well on your journey, you are well over half way and that is amazing, you work hard, push hard and thats just great.

Hey Maizy, thanks for coming by! I checked out your place real quick and I'll head over and say hi soon.:leaving:

Sit down, pull up a chair, couch, hot tub, whatever :smilielol5: feel free to hang out in here whenever!

*spanks Karl with my church ruler*

Behave now. :p

Is there a microwave there Karl?

When I get hungry/bad case of the munchies after I've had a meal, I pop the small 100 Cal bags of popcorn! It's crunchy, tastes great, and filling.
Plus, only 100 Calories!

I'm also a wiz at making my own 100 Cal snack packs with cereal/reeses pieces mixed together, stuff like that.. (the possibilities are endless!)

Pretzels and Popcorn are great togther in those packs too!

Do I have to (behave I mean, I might like the spanking :biggrinjester:)

Seriously, thanks for the tips, my problem is that I overindulged a bit, then had to force myself to be honest afterwards. It's a little thing called control... something I'm only recently getting used to having.

So glad when I drop in and see how great you're doing though, You truly inspire me to be better and do better and challenge myself more because if you can do it... I can do it :coolgleamA: So, until next time :seeya:

Of course you can. In fact, I expect nothing less! (maybe I'll borrow Stacy's ruler for you if you slip up?)

Not normally a big youtuber, but I decided to see if I could find some stuff with my current favorite band/singer/musician. Steven Wilson is the guy, his main band is Porcupine Tree here:

Also has a side project with an Israeli musician named Aviv Geffen called Blackfield. This cut is pretty mellow and sad but nice.

And here is kind of a funny interview with him on an Iraeli late night show. Brilliant musician, very outgoing peronality on TV.

Okay not my usual post but hey whatever...

heh uuummm I kinda like to be spanked also:slol your doing great Karl I'm very proud of you.I broke my non posting streak for you had to get in on all this spanking action:sand tracking food from midnight to midnight is smart never thought of that

You must run pretty odd hours having to work the night shifts. do you work like 4 and then a couple days off??

You all are crazy with your spanking...you could get in trouble.
