Odd weight routine

My fitness guy at my gym has me and my training partner on a wierd lifting routine. 1 set of 25 reps per exercise. There are 16 exercises on day one and 12 on day two. The goal is to lose weight and tone up.

I have never read anything about these drawn out single sets. Everything I've read is centered around multiple sets of 8-12 reps.

So what are the benefits of this type of weight routine? Is it more beneficial than the standard 3 sets/12 reps routine?

Thanks

In a word: no.

It's relatively pointless, and is probably based on "high reps for toning" nonsense. Stick to heavy weights, not pink dumbbells. ;)

Thanks man. We altered it. We used his supersets but higher weights and 3 sets of 12. I don't think the dude knew what he was talking about. Maybe his brother owns the gym and lets him pretend to be an trainer or something.
