Odd Chest

I've Posted about this before, and since then i deleted the topic and tried really hard on some routines to try and get some sort of result and return victorious, unfortunatly nothing has changed, so here goes again!

The problem; i'm not 100% sure what the problem is i just know it's not right, my left pec is normal, but my right must have gone on vacation and got lost because theres nothing there. i dont want a massive chest, just a 'normal' chest. (link to pic at the bottom!)

What I've Been Doing; I have bought my self a bench(w/ weights) and tried a few routines to try and help which i do over 7 days, i do a chest routine 2 times a week with 3 days min in between to try and avoid muscle fatigue. I also try and eat a bit more, anything, to gain a bit of weight cuz im natrually quite short and light :) My routine is something like this ..

-Bench Press (flat bench)
-Shoulder press
-Dips
-Closegrip bench press
-SkullCrushers
Which i do 8 reps on 3 sets.
I lift as much as i can so as to complete the routine. I have 40kgs all together but i can't manage to lift all of that at the mo, maybe with two pecs i might succeed! Done this for a few months now anyway...

I'm sure i'll get there eventually, a bit of help would be well appreciated though, thanks!

you might have gynacomastia(donno if the spellings correct on that) somtimes if you have it then you can have a kinda lop sided chest. you can tell if you have it by puffyness of the nipples and a larger chest. gyne in greek meens man boobs i belive. i think it mostly runs through family but it can be caused by dif. supplements and/or puberty and it can go away 90% of the time leaving puberty but somtimes your stuck w/ it.

ha, i'm glad to finally get a response! i think i see why you think it might just be "gynacomastia", but i don't think its the large side which is the problem. since i've changed my routine (yet again) the large/left side has turned into muscle and has toned more and even though im certain the large side isnt a lone man boob, if it were i would rather have two "man boobs" than a completely skinny chest! like i said though it doesnt feel breast like!

i may have messed up a little on my discription or wasnt clear enough, what i think my problem is is the skinny side where i feel there is no muscle! like i mentioned earlier i've changed my routine again, and i've seen slight improvement (nothing to get excited about, or to play for the no-shirt team in the park against shirts) i will stick with this routine and hopefully my right side will catch-up! however any other advice would be appriciated!!!!

do you think i should consult my GP? i normally don't bother going to him because i think he is quite half arsed

I think it's a genetic thing... (I hate to say "defect" because it has such a negative connotation to it.) Lots of women have completely different shaped breasts, some completely different cup sizes.. I don't see why men wouldn't have the same problem. The pectoral muscle appears short on one side, and I'm sure some of that can be improved through working the muscle... but ultimately if you want to be perfectly symmetrical, you should consult with a plastic surgeon. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong. Good luck!

hmm, i see your point. there is no way im going to consider plastic surgery, no offence to the people that have done it, i just don't agree with it! i think i will go through my GP in the near future and see if i can get some other views on my problem and see if there is a natrual way (no matter how much hard work i have to put in) to sort it out.

thanks for your help so far though!!

How is your form? Do you feel it may be a little off?

It may be Gyno but a Doctor would have to determine that. It seems that your nipples are a bit puffy which is a sign.

Everybodies left and right side are slightly different, bones on one side are longer or shorter than the other and the insertion points of the connective tissue are slightly different between the sides. Some peoples differences are more noticable than others. From your photos, I would guess you have a different attachement between the sternum and the pectoral muscle on each side of your chest which makes the pectoral muscles appear different, but that's just a wild guess. A good doctor (probably orthopedic or plastic surgeon?) could best determine why its different, but I don't think any reasonable doctor would recommend surgery unless it was causing some detremental health affect, which it si almost certainly not. So the visit to the doctor would only serve to satisfy your curiosity and nothing else.
I have a bone defect in my chest which makes one side protrude a lot father than the other. When I was skinny it was very noticable, but as my pectoral muscles grew it became less noticable and now it is virtually hidden by the mucles, so there is hope for the future. Heavy bench presses (as part of a good full body weight program based on compound movements) will increase the muscle mass throughout your body over a period of years and the chest differences will probably become hard to notice at some point.

i'm glad for your reply. i am determined to overcome this hurdle no matter what, or how much work it takes, it's not in my nature to give up and settle for second best. i will probably go and check it out too get a bit more detail into it, but by the sounds of things i just need to stick with some decent chest exercise, which i'm quite confident i have right now. although i will share and i guess you can let me know if its any good, and what you did ?

theres no way im going to be satisfied with the view i have right now on my chest next year, i am going to get results! thanks for your replies, i'm feeling quite confident alot of lifting might help the cause!!

I think I read about something like this on T-nation yesterday. I think they attributed it to injury of one of the shoulder or back muscles. I think it was one of the articles on Meltdown training and the author was talking about isolation vs compound excercise.

dude don't worry about the weird chest thing, i have it too, and its worse than yours. its a condition called gynecomastia, and it affects around 60-90% of growing teen guys at different levels. its usually a genetic thing, cuz my dad had it around my age as well. im 15, and i got it when i was around 13, and i def cant wait until it goes away lol. the worse part is that no amount of cardio or working out makes it go away... it just makes it look a bit more defined. my pecs look pretty big cuz not only do i have a little bit of gynecomastia but i have large pectorial muscles underneath the gynecomastia fat, which makes for pretty darn big tits lol. u just gotta learn to live with it... just remember, the person that is able to laugh at his own problems and weak points and learn to accept them for what they are will always get the most out of life. patience is key...

That's pretty wise advice coming from such a young person. Gives me hope for the future of our planet. Seriously.
