NOW Started Weight Watchers today

Hi everyone! Today is an important day for me. Today I decided to take the first step in the right direction. After a bad decision in contraceptive (DEPO SHOT IS BAD!) I gained 40 lbs and have been steadily gaining ever since. This has been one huge emotional battle for me and I've decided it ends now. No more sitting on the couch crying about my weight but never doing anything about it. I go to the gym occasionally but I wonder... why pay like 35 bucks a month and never go? Why do I live in such a gorgeous place with mountains and beautiful weather, but never take advantage of it?? Well it stops NOW. I joined weight watchers, and I'm making my pledge to keep up with the gym and see where it all leads. Hopefully it will lead to 145lbs by June! I stumbled upon this forum and joined immediately.. I love the positive and healthy attitudes and it is so inspiring to hear about everyone's success stories. I want to be a success story too! So here they are... a very painful, emotional, and exciting beginning starting with the truth... my pictures!

Today I stand at 5'5 and 210lbs. I hope ya'll join me in my journey to becoming a healthier, happier, and smaller me!

This is my goal.

Welcome aboard!!! There are many of us here who are at various stages of our journey. This is a great place full of positive and supportive people. Lots of good information on nutrition, exercise, and most of all encouragement. You've taken the first big step...deciding to take action. You've got a lot of great resources at your fingertips right here.

For me, it is a never ending journey for health and fitness, not a destination to a number. I have to change my lifestyle, habits, and perspectives and let the rest take care of itself. I started by listing out my motivations. WHY do I want to do this (i.e. to live to take care of my kids, to be able to play with my kids, do yard work, play golf, run like I used to). I also made a list of intermediate goals other than a number on the scale (get into a certain pair of pants, run a mile, play golf, etc.). Make a "TO-BE" list. What do you want to be. What is your heart's desire. Then make a "TO-DO" list, a plan for how you will achieve the things on your to be list.

Advance Decisions. Make detail plans, workout schedules, certain things, on certain days, at certain times. Set the clock. Don't get discouraged, sometimes we'll mess up. Just pick up and keep going. Do the best you can do for that day. Some days are better than others. You can only change right now. Past is gone, future isn't here yet.

Congratulations on taking the first step and know that you're not in this alone. We're here to help you in any way we can. YOU CAN DO THIS, YOU WILL DO THIS...WE WILL DO THIS. Positive attitude plays a lot into it!!!

Just wanted to stop and say hi. :seeya:

I'm on Weight Watchers too. About five years ago I weighed 135 and was a size 8. This was the smallest I had been in my adult life and I felt great, though I wanted to lose a bit more. Unfortunately I slacked off with my healthy diet and developed a more sedentary lifestyle, and slowly got up to 194.8. :ack2: I also look at my "skinny" pictures all the time as motivation to keep on going. So far I'm 170 and a size 12. Good luck to you!

Hi, and welcome

Sorry about the side effects of the shot. I lost weight on a program similar to weight watchers, so I know it works, I just used to get tired of always having to remember the amount of points in everything.

You have joined a great forum, with encouraging people who don't judge whether you have 5 lbs or 100lbs to lose.

So good luck on your journey, I know you will succeed if you keep motivated and put some effort into it.

You're beautiful! you were beautiful then and you're beautiful now. All that matters now is being where you feel comfortable and happy in your own skin and i know you can do it. It's hard, and takes a lot of work and sweat but in the end it'll be so worth it. Good luck and keep us posted! :)

Good luck on your journey and ww is one of the best to use.
I'm 17yrs and I've lost 100lbs using ww.
Follow it and you will succsed (=

Hi!
I've been wondering about weight watchers.. is it really helpful? I've been using spark people religiously to count calories and i feel it's helping. Do you to go to meetings?

By the way you're very pretty, I think you looked great and still look great! Stay strong you can do this :)

Hi! I wanted to let you know that I just joined WW also. I signed up this past Wednesday morning and as of yesterday morning I had already lost 4 lbs. That's a pound a day for me so far! I think the point system is very easy to figure out and keep track of. I am loving WW so far and its obviously working. I haven't even started incorporating exercise yet. Can't wait to see the results once I do!

a few of my aunts have used WW in the past and lost 30+ pounds each time (they yo-yo'd quite a bit) so i think you'll have a lot of success using that method. good luck again!

Thanks everyone! so far I'm 4lbs down!!! I started last thursday so it's only been a week! I think this is really going to be good for me! :)
